Yeah it's usually either Huppia or Hippia, not sure which one's actually right though.

Looks like I'm not the only one then! :D

Here's another - on French TV, they pronounce Arbeloa "Ar-bell-war", though I was under the impression it was "Ar-be-low-ah".

      Any thoughts?

It's a bit like Kuyt's name, some people say it as Kite and others as Kowt and FIFA 08 said it something along the lines of Kaweeth!

Lets be honest is it really that big a deal? I've spelt Riera wrong on many occasions putting the E before I, does that make the post any less credible? Does it alter the point being made? Does it mean I have no pride in what I post? Because the biggest moaners about this are those who've mis-spelt many a word, including players name.

If it's legiable then it's not really worth moaning over as people may have difficulties such as dyslexsia, they may have difficult eye sight, they may just have a memory lapse. They could even have other disabilities such as being deaf so they don't know how names are pronounced which is always a help when spelling words, especially names. They could be blind for all we know and having an aid post for them. Now these may be rather exteme, but I'm pretty sure nobody on here knows the personal life of each and every single poster. Then of course there's those who live abroad where words are spelt differently including names i.e Dirk Kujit who later became Kuyt.

So again if it's obvious who the poster is on about, which in most cases it is, then I wouldn't worry about it personally.

Yeah probably, but there's people asking how names are pronounced so we're just discussing it.

In the wake of a strange new trend slowly taking over the forum, I'd like to remind people of one:

      Rafael Benitez, aka Rafa

It's not Raphael, or Rapha. And his name is one the first post of this thread!

      Alberto Aquilani.

Two "i"s in the surname, not three "a"s.

Just an idea, but would it be possible to add the surnames of the players in the Spell Checker? Might be a good idea.

Sadly not for the moment, I think it's a point that's been brought up before, but JD is unable to make additions to the dictionary for some reason.

      Shame, though.

Another one that keeps cropping up.

I know no-one gives a sh*t about him but it's 'Itandje' not 'Intandje'.

      Haha!

Similar thing happened with Pantsil at Fulham I think.

His name's actually Paintsil, but Pantsil has just stuck now.

Totally agree msG! Really irritates me! I, by mistake as I post usually whilst outside in the garden on my blackberry always screw up as well! I can't tell though till I have posted. Aren't there a few different spellings of grobbelaar's name?
