El Nino needs just one to become the fastest ever Red to hit 50 league goals and the boss reckons it is evidence of how well he has taken to life in L4.
"We know that Fernando is a very good player but to reach this number of goals also shows how quickly he has settled into the team and the city," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"The Barclays Premier League is very difficult so to score 49 league goals in such a short time shows he is someone that is really happy here.
"There are some big names who have scored a lot of goals for this club so for Torres to be with them is really good for him and also for us."
Benitez also revealed he will keep a cautious eye on the fitness of his number nine as the Reds go into the busy Christmas period.
"We have a lot of games coming up now so we have to manage carefully with Fernando," he added.
"He was tired after Arsenal so I wanted to protect him in midweek. When he came on as a substitute to score against Wigan he looked quite sharp so we have to keep an eye on him in every game and see how we can manage."
