Kuyt reminds me of the hunchback of notre dame. 2-0 to dutch. Quick freekick, keeper comes out and cuts back to wesley and he slots it straight down the middle. Good goal.

      2-0. Quality, Dirk!!

This is what i have said about Dirk all day long and the reason why we were so sh*t last season. If there's movement from the attackers, Dirk is brilliant. If there isn't, he looks lost.

I doubt Dirk could score from his position. Was wise to make a pass.

      2-1 meaningless goal for Slovakia.

Unlucky Skrtel, well played Kuyt  :D

That was one of the worst performances I've seen in this tournament from one single team (Slovakia), and Holland were really, really unconvincing too. Reckon Brazil could blow them away should they get past Chile, who I would also bet on over Holland at the moment.

Wasn't a great game, but happy we're through. It'll all come down to next game.

Netherlands playing used to mean entertaining games.

      Used to.
Yeah, there's a change of philosophy within our national team it seems. Since the 70's total football era our main focus has always been good attractive football comes first, winning 2nd. Van Marwijk has changed that, but with the consent of the players. The players were very unhappy after losing out 2 years ago at Euro 2008. Sneijder is a good example, he has learned at Inter that to get the result you want you have to make compromises in the way you play. So it's not that they can't play entertaining football anymore, that just isn't their main aim anymore. Ofcourse this has sparked a huge debate and criticism in my country, many people prefer our old style of play, even if that means we won't win. They feel it's part of our football culture. I'm not sure what to think of it to be honest. I think against big teams we're still going to see some great football.
