He appears to be doing the CEO job at the moment, I'm not sure about that he seems to have a bit to much of a say for my likening.

He basically is a chief scout don't know why he has such a say in who the manager is.

I believe that JH mentioned that Comolli would be invloved in all aspects of the club with the exception of marketing. I actually think that Comolli is going to be more involved with day to day decisions moreso then the CEO, who will be there to run the board and sign off on big things.

And there lies the rub! I hope Kenny has a real say in the transfers and DC isn't the control freak some think he is. :)

Well if the talk is true then he is just scouting the players and Kenny is having the final stay.

Just wanted to pop in and say that I have been pretty happy with how Comolli has handled himself since he joined Liverpool.

He seems to be calm, smart & has a long term vision for the club.

Looking forward to seeing who he signs :).

He certainly has. Apparently, when he was at Spurs played a major part in the signing of Hutton,Modric,Bale and Assou-Ekotto.Not bad signings ....I guess.

was a good scout I reckon. Wasen't he the one that pushed through the Meireles deal? Will be a bit of a blow, but Comolli should do a job. Any truth on the rumour that 6 scouts were let go?

Comolli will do well to listen to the king. If he does he will learn very quickly and become a prized asset.

I was reading last night that Macia, five other scouts and a couple of coaches have had their employment terminated (not sure if they have been replaced yet)

Liverpool have parted company with 6 scouts, including former chief scout Eduardo Macia. Spaniard Macia left the club by mutual consent last week.

New director of football strategy Damien Comolli (pictured) has made the decision to terminate the contracts of five other scouts, most of whom were appointed under Rafa Benitez.

One of the scouts leaving is Jakob Friis-Hansen, the father of reserve keeper Martin Hansen. He told Danish press:

“Virtually everyone who has been employed under Benitez, has now finished at the club. This is also a couple of Spanish coaches. It is very natural that it happens when a new manager or sporting director to a club. We did never actually meet Comolli, but he has some other ideas, and it is basically fair enough. I’ve got a nice severance scheme and am free to start a new job.”

In 2008, Jakob Friis-Hansen under Rafa Benitez 'management employed as a scout for Liverpool FC, but after two-and-a-half years in the job he has now finished. Together with a further five scouts, he has been terminated.

I have just signed the papers and finish at the club. It has been in the air that would happen, since Comolli (sporting director Damien Comolli) was employed, so it does not come as a great surprise, says Jakob Friis-Hansen and adds:

Virtually everyone who has been employed under Benitez, has now finished at the club. This is also a couple of Spanish coaches. It is very natural that it happens when a new manager or sporting director to a club. We did never actually meet Comolli, but he has some other ideas, and it is basically fair enough. The 43-year-old Dane looks confidently into the future. The time at Liverpool has equipped him with new challenges.

I have built an enormously powerful network in my time at Liverpool. I worked regularly in Italy, Germany, Spain, Holland and France over the last few years, like I've got contacts in countries like Cameroon and Ghana.

I'd really like to strengthen the network even more in the future with a job as a scout for a few years and I have also already received the first complaints (translation error obviously) from a couple of foreign clubs.

A job as sports director where it really affects what happens on the pitch and the players that are retrieved in, could well be interesting for me. I will not reject anything - not even in Denmark, says Friis Hansen, who has enjoyed his experience in England.

I almost felt like playing again . You will travel around and meet many of the same people you played with and against that asset and it has been fantastic. Besides you do not lace the boots, it has almost been like back then, and I would still like to be a part of ending Friis-Hansen.

Jakob Friis-Hansen played as active in the B1903, Lyngby, Bordeaux, Lille and HSV, as he reached 19 games on the Danish national team. As a trainer, he has headed the HIK and Wexford Youths.

It's not surprising, the bad reputation Comolli had in several clubs he was, mostly came from the scouts who were there before him, he always had difficulties to trust, prefering to rely on a network of freelances and friends to provide him videos and reports, then doing most of the contact job himself.

Don't know if Comolli method is better or not, but keeping so many club scouts was useless considering he was probably going to ignore their advices anyway.

Sorry mate, the only other thing I heard was that 2 of them were Spanish, with one of the two based in Italy. No idea if that's correct or not though.

I tell you what, what with the latest rumours stating that we are the favorites to sign this fella Chamberlain from Southampton for a cool £10m sum, its clear to see Comolli's influence working already.
