      Are our employees fans ??
      Jul 05, 2010 12:20:21 pm
Are the majority of Liverpool employee's fans ? As in the people who work behind the scenes Stewards,Club shop,Marketing,Pr,Administration,Bar Staff,Food etc ?

If i was an employee i would seriously think of organising a strike or a work to rule as a protest,I'm not 100% sure would it be legal. If there was a full strike in place it could cost the club thousands and cause chaos, the only stepping stone would be getting a majority of staff to agree or else people would risk losing their jobs which would be a bit over the top in some cases.

If the club can dispose of a manager of Rafas class they wouldnt be arsed about a strike and would almost certainly find a way to sack them. It would be nice to think every one who was employed by the club was red through and through, but i very much doubt it nowadays.

I'm 100% certain that not all of our staff are Liverpool fans. I have known a good few people working on the bars, etc who weren't Liverpool fans. And, very much on the contrary to what Everton fans will tell you, people in the city are probably split 50/50 in terms of Red or Blue so there could very easily be a lot of Everton fans working there too.

Plus, our Chairman isn't even a Liverpool fan. :f_tongueincheek:

With regards to striking however, it could be possible and they don't have to be Liverpool fans in order to want to. It is their jobs at stake if the club is in a bad financial situation. They may have to make cutbacks in those areas to save money, or even, God forbid, if the club went bust. Then none of them would have jobs.

Well said I think people are in a much better position to strike if they are part of a big union that will protect them if working conditions are poor, pay is crap etc eg Royal Mail or BA, not a football club!

I know a good few people have been stewards, and remain so, and are not fans. To be honest, even if they went on strike, there would be thousands of people queing up to take their jobs.

Does anyone actually think people are going to give up their jobs for LFC?
Realitically, people care more about supporting their families than a football club...

Obviously not but if the majority striked for a legitimate reason they couldn't sack them

The strike couldn't work, because the non-liverpool fans wouldn't do it, then the liverpool fans who stuck to the strike would get the sack, and just get replaced.

One of my mates works in the kiosks at Anfield. I think jobs will always be filled, so by working for the club, there's nothing we can do about that as a protest.

I am sure that a couple of the staff in the Chester LFC shop are Manc because i remember asking the guy behind the counter when it first opened and he said that four of them are and two of them are Manc.

Can you think of anything worse than a Manc wearing our beloved logo. or vice versa.

Anyway, i think i just rabbited on, never mind bring on the new season.

If I had a job where I was getting PAID to sit on the field during every single home match, I wouldn't give a F**k about the ownership situation and would not do anything to jeopardize my job.  Sorry. It might not pay a lot but being a Steward would kick ass. I would never miss a day of work.  If I was bleeding out of my eyeballs, I would still go to work.

Stewards aren't allowed to watch the game :(  They have to face the crowd and spot things (troublemakers/incidents etc)

One staff told me that the club is an "equal opportunity employer", pointing me to another of his Blueshite colleague.

mike it's good idea on paper but it will not work as there are no grounds for a legal strike (i.e. one cannot strike because their employer is in debt) so the trade unions (if any) cannot stop the liverpool hierarchy from sacking those staff who strike.
