You thought that with the prospect of GH being sued by Ginola for his constant repeat of the murderer/cost them a place at the 94 world cup accusation would keep GH quiet but obviously not.

Won us a treble...Of sorts... F**ked up with Anelka. Should leave the past where it belongs though. Did a great job with us until his health was effected but should resist the urge to put the knife in to a manager that I will always fondly remember for Winning us the Champions League, getting us to believe again and exposing the owners for what they really are.

I'm amazed he chose to come out at this time to slate Rafa. Ok, he won us a few trophies and Rafa won us a few as well and both finished 2nd in the league but Rafa went one step further by winning the CL. But, why? Why? Choose this moment of time to release his frustration, unless something is brewing that we may not know. Hmmm... must definitely be something going on between Roy and him or he must be trying to market himself back into the PL.

There is no "mystery player" - Whoullier is as full of sh*t today as he was when managing Liverpool. What a self-centred pr**k of a man!

      Couple of points.
Two of the most important players in 2005 were Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia.Rafa's signings.
Liverpool have been left a far greater first team on Rafa's departure than on Gerard's

Very very well said Dunlop Liddle Shankly. I am always grateful for Mr Houllier's input in to the club. Remember where Liverpool were before he came? Sheer embarassment. I mean for Gods sake - Neil Ruddock played for this club and Houllier had seen enough of these playboy, drinking culture arses and put his foot down firmly! He restored respect back into the management which was absent for many years. If it weren't for Gerard, where would Gerrard and Carragher be? Yes, he may sound a bit bitter and say ill advised remarks but some people forget the effort he put in to this club. So big that it nearly cost him his life! If it hadn't been for that heart attack, he could have done a whole lot more for the club. And for some of you - yes Rafa is held in higher regards than him, but there was a very decent, committed manager before 2004 who proved instrumental in the careers of so many no more so than our captain and vice captain and don't ever forget that.

Firstly, Houllier never had a heart attack. He fell ill whilst at work in his highly paid job and specialists decided that preventative surgery would lengthen his life expectancy due to his general health condition throughout his life. GH did NOT nearly give his life for the club in anyway, shape or form!!!
Secondly, why single out Ruddock when Houllier made numerous signings of far inferior quality? Bizarre comments, Frankly!

Yeah but he had a nasty way of dealing with players. People want to slag Rafa for the way he treats players, at least Rafa would still play a player even if he had a falling out with them, there is only Reira who was totally bombed out by Rafa, unlike Westerveld, Fowler, Babbel, Litmanen, Camara who were all fu**ed off by Houllier after having a falling out with him.

It also showed how ill he was when allowed the likes of Gerrard, Carragher, Owen and Murphy to dictate his team to him in that final season, especially at Old Trafford where they encouraged Houllier to drop Baros for Heskey.

And if only he had signed Anelka!!

That was a fault of Gerard's, he was too proud to play players who he'd had falling outs with. Unfortunately that's his way of managing and has been for a while.

As for players picking the side, it was a disgrace. And I think that's one of the many reasons why Liverpool and Houllier parted companies when they did.

Anelka? Well there's always one that gets away from every manager.

It is obvious by his comments he had a chip on his shoulder about Rafa, it is simple though when Houllier went the vast majority wanted him to go and were delighted when he was sacked. When Rafa left the majority of fans were gutted why is that Gerard.

Saying that was his team that won the champions league is hillarious, thanks to Rafa players like Traore, Biscan and Baros have Champions League medals.

If was a F***ing miracle Rafa won a champions league with that shambles of a team, the way Houllier is talking you'd think he left Rafa with a dream team.

Another age another era, Houllier was great for LFC at the time but we have moved on from that, who f***in cares what he thinks now, who cared what Beglin, Whelan et al thought of Rafa last term, i seem to remember plenty of derogatary remarks on this forum about our then current mamager, as the man said himself signing players like Diouff and Diao were not exactly ideal so in essence managers do make mistakes, its how you deal with those mistakes that matters and IMO Rafa was denied the time to rectify his mistakes by Purslime because he could do and say what he wanted, obviously against their better judgement, Houllier should keep his gob shut and concentrate on his current position, After all he and his cronies were part and parcel of that French debacle in SA, Pot, Kettle, and black springs to mind, Thanks Gerard for your efforts during your LFC tenure but your slating of Rafa is most unwelcome, So f***in do one.

Don't get me wrong, i liked Houllier but everytime i seem to read something he says, it starts to piss me off. I don't know what it is but he is obviously still very bitter about what happened to him at the club.

Its doing nobody any good having a pop at past managers, and just the same Gerard should have kept his stories and thoughts to himself maybe. Houllier did great things to help put us on the right road again, remember where we were before that. Rafa of course will be remembered for istanbul and the 06 FAcup and both got to 2nd at best in the league, in Rafas case things had never looked more positive for a long time only then to be denied money to build. And both made their mistakes in the market. So lets look forward hey, weve had a couple of bits of good news recently , lets keep the positives going.

Looking at the whole thing on it's merits (irrespective of who won what etc) - his statement lacks a certain dignity and class. It is a cringe-worthy read.

Everyone makes mistakes tho' so i wouldn't be overly quick to call him on it. In fact i would imagine hope that Gerard, on seeing the interview in print, may feel a tad embarrassed.  :-\

It's easy to take "snippets" of what someone said and make it sound worse than it really was. For all we know he could have also gave Rafa some credit too (probably not though).

Everyone appreciates what he did and if they don't they should. But people who are having a pop at him aren't the ones out of order, he is. Why has he popped up with this? Hes gone over 6 years from the club. He is obviously bitter that the following season the European cup was landed with "his squad". He might have won one if he hadn't have done what he did in Germany against Bayer.
