Neighbours (not the tv show, annoying people that live next door)
      Jul 30, 2011 05:52:08 pm
      Anyone ever had any bother?

We've had some right two dollar shits as neighbours over the years (ranging from dope heads to drug dealers), but the last few years have been much better.  We have an Asian guy and his son in the flat below (the son is about 20) which is all fine.  Trouble is, at the moment, the Dad is away and the son, just being married, now has a wife.  His main occupation seems to be to chase her round the flat for large periods of the day and night, and when catching up with her, making her scream the place down.

How do I know all this, well because, to us upstairs (it's a terraced conversion), it sounds like a herd of elephants (and the rest) and the screaming - it goes right through us.  As you probably guessed, it's only happening because his father is away, as the rest of the time we never hear hardly anything.

I wrote them a polite note explaining our concerns as this was going on well past 3am on some occasions.  Things have got better but this week it has been kicking off again, so today (it was super kicking off, her screaming again) I just semi-shouted through their door if they could keep it down a bit - please.  It suddenly went quiet, bliss for a while at least.

I feel bad about it now though as they're not bad people, just feckin noisy while the dad is away.  Speaking of which, I will be having a little chat with him when he gets back.

Think there is a thread about this, somewhere cannot recall i think Gow had a problem with his neighbours dog next door :D

But yes i have a problem with mine, there lovely people, husband and wife with 2 little girls, however the mum has a tendency to shout their house down in doing so, waking me up half the time, as they wake up early so does she, she screams at them, making them cry and there bedroom is behind the wall of mine, so i am the first to hear of there little tantrums etc, like having a continuous alarm but not knowing when it is going to go off :D

Haha!!  Can't believe you just posted this thread red squirrel, I've just been out to my neighbours and told them to keep the noise down !!  :D

My house is my own, but next door is rented by a Polish couple and their young daughter.  Every time the weather is nice the whole of the Polish community descend on next door for a barbeque and a piss up, the kids are running wild screaming their heads off and the adults talk that loud that they could be heard on the F***ing moon !!

Anyway, after putting up with this for weeks (every sunny Saturday  :D) and all afternoon today, I'd just about had enough.  I obviously don't mind people having friends around for a barby on a nice day, but they take the piss, they are sooooo F***ing loud !!  I even had my patio door shut and they were still louder than my telly !!

Anyways, I got to the end of my tether today and about 15 mins ago I went to go and knock and request they calm down a bit.  The wife was just seeing someone off in a taxi at the front door (in taxi cos they drink with their kids in tow) so I basically told her that I'm entitled to a bit of peace and quiet and to have a bit of respect for the neighbours and if they didn't cut it out every bloody Saturday I'd be speaking to the landlord, she just said "okay Vicky" so I slammed the front door and came in.  At least I've got it off my chest and they now know they can't have the whole of the Liverpool/Polish community congregate in their sunny back garden every weekend  ;D

^^^ I know exactly what you mean, when the noise is so intrusive that it stops you enjoying your own place and having some peace and quiet.

If it carries on I would write them a polite letter and let them know how much it is disturbing you, emphasising you don't really want to get landlords etc involved.  It could help if there are neighbours on the other side who are pissed off as well.

Your council may offer a mediation service which may help.  Or you could just tell the landlord that they are making the streets life a bloody misery.

Listen to me giving advice, when I now feel guilty about asking my own neighbours to keep it down ;D

I feel your pain. Thankfully I've gone from having really bad neighbours to having absolutely brilliant neighbours and I feel very lucky!

Worst ever?  A knife put through the door of my flat, by a drug dealing, girlfriend beating arsehole, who's stung-out, whacked out, drugged up stripper girlfriend would routinely be found sitting in the middle of the road, naked & crying.  Their arguments routinely required police intervention.  It got so bad, my landlords paid for my moving costs, found me a new place to rent and whilst looking for a new place, I lived rent free.

Don't think its gonna happen again Gow, or the landlord will be having a phone call from me.  The wife seemed quite surprised when I pulled her up, lets hope its the last time eh?

My back neighbors hate us, because we own a German shepherd and our next door neighbors own a rottweiler, between them they do cause a bit of noise at night, but its mainly the little sh*t of a dog 2 doors away, but because ours is an "white unknown breed" to them, they have pinned it on our dog, however after 2 warnings from the council they were asked to find evidence against our dog, but they never could because it was hardly ever her.

Still have not had the opportunity to take a glimpse at the people living directly upstairs above me as they seem to move about at strange and unorthodox times of the night. But I assume they are uni students because that apartment has been rented out to uni students for a couple of years now. Anyhow every night they seem to host a jelly wrestling contest between Oprah Winfrey and Rosie O'Donnel because of the very frequent loud thuds and strange heavy rolling that goes on directly above my bedroom. Been upstairs knocking on their door a few times but they never open however they do seem to stop immediately after. I think if it continues I might need to go and put one on someone's chin becasue it's been really difficult to sleep with the shenanigans going on above.

Mine are F***ing annoying. Got one neighbour directly across the road who we have nicknamed 'The Breeder' because about 10 kids live there, with about three different fathers for all of them and the one woman. Every morning from 6am until late at night you hear them all screaming, swearing, crying and the like. Used to hang out with one of the sons with a couple others in the street when i was younger but had a bust up and i planted a golf club on his collar bone and never talked to him since.

The family that lives in the apartment next to mine are the most annoying kind of people in the world. I think they're a couple, a son and a dog. Even the dog (and I love dogs) is annoying, once it escaped their apartment and had a sh*t on my front door. The son is a f***in noisy idiot, listening to his gay songs (who the F**k still listens to Backstreet Boys?) on very high volume. The father is the only silent one, while the mother is as annoying as a person can possibly be. I've never seen such an unhappy person. When I get up to get ready for work, she is already fighting with someone from her family. She's always complaining, I could not live 5 minutes with such a negative person, thankfully she's just a neighbour.

I used to have terrible neighbours, they were absolute trash and drug dealers. It was when my kids still lived wih me and were still very young so sleep was precious to us! The neighbours used to get out of bed at around 3 or 4 in the afternoon then they'd be up all night playing music, shouting, arguing and smashing stuff up. We moved out just under a year after they'd moved in but it was hell for that entire time. They were raided by the Police 3 times to my knowledge. The only bonus was that the females weren't exactly prudish about sunbathing in the back yard!

Now, thankfully, I have excellent neighbours. On one side there was a young couple but they split so now it's just the girl living there. She plays music loud sometimes but never late at night during the week so I'd be the last person to complain about that. On the other side there's a couple in their 40s, very down-to-earth and always offering to help out if I need anything.
Makes a big difference having good neighbours and I've got every sympathy for those of you not so lucky in that respect.

Definitely time for a polite letter as a first course and find out the landlord's details.  Good luck.

Mine have definitely piped down since I called through their door yesterday.  I think the problem is neither of them go to work and they appear to milk the situation by staying up all night and then getting up around 2pm the next day.  Too much energy methinks.

I am hoping the Dad's return is imminent - he's been gone since the beginning of June, so I assume his visa to wherever can't be unlimited.

Bit of an odd couple that, didn't think that sort of thing was allowed. ;)

Reading some of these stories make me appreciate the neighbours I've had, pretty much all my life.  Only problem we've had is next door's dog occasionally shitting in our front garden but they usually lift it themselves.  On the other side, the fella is a bit of a DIY nut so there's a bit of drilling and hammering goes on but its bearable.

I've recently moved out of my Ma's and live with a mate and another Uni student.  I think we may be the annoying neighbours now but we haven't had any complaints...yet.

The couple next door to us have a runt of a dog that he lets out at 5.30 in the morning to sh*t in my garden before he goes to work then his missus takes the little ball of sh*te in a 9.30 when i'm going to work. Had to fence off my garden to keep the little fcuker out.Everyother garden is open plan. Did they offer to pay half? Did they fcuk.

Moved to a new house last Thursday and on the right lives a man who doesn't say hi or speak for that matter.

      Weird.

The old terrace houses in Liverpool used to be terrible for noise from neighbours as the walls were very thin, and no insulation in those days.I always remember one night not long after we had got married I said to the misses do you fancy a bit of sex and the woman next door shouted yes please.
