Players you think could successfully change position

We all know Rafa liked his multi-taskers.  How about Kenny?  I remember Stan Staunton having stints as a CM and striker (scoring a hat trick once).  Jan Molby played several games as a CB.  Stevie Nicol - everywhere?!

I suppose the obvious one is Glen Johnson.  From right back to left back.  Many suggested he could play as a right winger, something we've not seen as yet.

How about Emilio Insua?  Left winger?  Has a decent assist rate from LB and the move could free him up from defensive duties (similar to Aurelio who can play both positions).  Could be back up to Downing?

What do you guys think?  Any suggestions?

Think Insua would struggle on the wing. He has neither the pace or skill to pass players with any kind of regularity. Overlapping from LB he is able to run in to space created by the movement of players in front of him rather than having to beat men on his own.

Lucas to play again as a CAM. I've never seen him play like he did at Gremio.

2 of them actually happened.

Lucas as CAM vs Chelsea at the bridge in the 4-4, he scored in that game too.
Reina as CM vs Kaiserslautern in a pre-season friendly, took a shot but unfortunately did not score.

Johnson - Right and left back.

Gerrard - Wide right. Holding mid. CAM

Kuyt - Wide in the attacking area of a 4-2-3-1 or up front.

Downing - Anywhere along the supporting attack line of a 4-2-3-1

Henderson - CM or wide right of midfield.

Think Stevie will move further back the older he gets , i can see him in a lothar mathaus/ laurent blanc type of role eventually . Would suit him down to the ground if he stay's fit enough like .

I'd have to agree with that. When I put him in there it's on the basis that he has played all three roles, but realistically he will need the likes of Henderson and Raul to do the running soon and play the role he did so well against United.

Gerrard can play anywhere on the pitch. I could see Agger as a defensive midfielder. Same with Aurelio. Charlie Adam claims he can play center half.

Could see agger as DM too, there was a bit of an injury crisis in midfield a couple of seasons back and I think Rafa mentioned it.  Also mentioned big Sami could play there too.  I don't recall it happened though.

Hmm, passing, creativity, shooting. Agger sounds like he could play the Xabi Alonso role.

I'm NOT suggesting we do this , but imagine Suarez as a right back.

• He's not afraid to stick in -- he loves to chase and harass
• He has decent pace and great ball control, so he could bomb up the wing all match long
• He has great stamina, so he could cover a lot of ground on defense and attack
• Imagine him in Barcelona (I know, I know  ) as a right back. He'd be an absolute terror in that awesome attack

But for now, I think he'll do upfront for us. He's adequate at it.   

Aurelio as DM/LM if short.. Johnson RM. Gerrard RB. Agger DM. Suarez either wing.

I recall Johnson playing in centre mid for Portsmouth too.
