As I said, my fourth year on the run today, and while the service itself was excellent, I found it the hardest through the reading of the names. It's always hard to hear the seemingly never ending lost, but it hit me even harder today. To think of the 20th anniversary and all the papers (except one) getting behind us and now they've all left us to it. But justice will be done, as Margaret said.
Fair play to Dirk Kuyt for his understated reading. Big respect for that.
Poignantly, when the balloons were released as You'll Never Walk Alone was sang, one stuck under the Kop roof. I looked up at it, tears in my eyes, trying to sing along to YNWA, and wondered who it was whose spirit could not bear to leave Anfield today.
Justice for the 96.
You'll Never Walk Alone.
