Once again it looks like we are going to drastically overpay for an unproven player , after last years disastrous spending it looks like deja vu all over again is it only our club that seems to get quoted ridiculous prices for players that are mediocre at best
 , really worrying .

For the record this was my first reaction      but I didn't want to seem harsh..

Well we could pay £35 mil for a Brazilian who is unproven in europe - but that doesnt count because he isnt british

Many different factors to consider and most have been discussed in the Allen thread

People moan when we don't spend money.. People moan when we spend too much money on the wrong players.. Difficult to win.

Rodgers has spent the past two years with him, he knows how much talent he has. The fact he is prepared to offer a fee of £15 million for Allen yet not prepared to offer Sigurdsson an extra £20,000 a week in wages leaves me comfortable in the knowledge he knows what value he is worth.

If Rodgers wants him, that will do for me.

I'm swaying towards that way of reckoning Dan. Before last seasons Summer window I was in the mindset of 'who gives a sh*t what we spend, not my money' but after last Summer's eyebrow raising signings and what we got back from them last season then I can understand why people are a bit apprehensive towards expensive, Premiership proven quality.

But, if we are to get behind Rodgers and his philosophy then we've got to trust his decisions in the market.
