      What Hoover???
      Aug 20, 2012 01:15:54 pm
      Fellow Reds

Myself and the missus are looking at getting a new hoover as the old one is knackered.  We need one that will pick up dog hairs.

Does anyone have any ideas what the best one to get is?  We have heard Miele and Dyson are the best.

      Cheers

Let's see if anyone is anal enough to correct you for using the name Hoover.
      Dyson's are excellent, though pricey.
A bloke at work had his old Dyson DC4 serviced and the engineer who did it advised him to try and keep that one going as long as possible as the new Dysons aren't built all that well. Don't know how true it is.

If you're on a budget, the Numatic range is actually very good, you know the ones with the faces on and names like Henry? Basic but powerful. You'd want the 'Harry' model, designed for Pet owners.

      I have a Dyson, DC01, the first!

Thing to remember now with Dyson's is that they are no longer made in the UK. There have been, I believe, some issues with quality now.

The DC01, can virtually be taken apart, and I should now. Fluff can collect in the ducts, and they need cleaning out, but that is the DC01.

You may get lucky at a second hand shop.

My dyson broke bout 4 weeks ago - ballache... No chance for it to be fixed, in fact told that it was better to buy a new one then repair it.

So I borrowed my mates Miele hoover the other day - thought it looked a bit basic but he reakoned that it was the balls. Turns out the thing hoovered up everything in sight, my missus could barely move the brush thing about it was so powerfull - although she is tiny! When I emptied it there were 2 pens in there and a bowtie. No idea where they came from, but the thing was a beast.

      Is right sister.   >:D

Funnily enough I'd a weird nightmare on Saturday: In my dream I woke up to find the grim reaper standing over me just about to swing his scythe. All I could find to fight him off was a vacuum cleaner... Yes, that's right folks...

      I was Dyson with "Death".

I own a Roomba and I love it. It picks up about 95% of what a human with a vacuum would, and it does it while I'm away at work. I don't do anything but clean out its filter and pick up a few stray dust balls that it misses. One of the best buys I've ever made. Perfect for a busy lazy person. :)

We've had a Dyson for years, I bought it off ebay for next to nothing cos the motor had gone, ordered a new motor off ebay for £15 and popped it in and it sucks like Heather Brooke. If you give them a service they just keep on suckin.

Just don't get a Dyson ball hoover, I had a rather awkward time at A&E explaining my misunderstanding of use.
