      What will the Suarez sale do to the 2014 Summer transfer budget?

      Supposing Suarez is sold to Barcelona and we get the speculated £80m. How do you feel the money will affect the current budget FSG have allocated?

      What are the chances we will see the entire sum being added onto the current budget? Granted the shareholders will get some payout but even at -20m in dividends... would 60m be added onto the current budget or do you think FSG will use this as a money saving venture and just invest the ~60m in players? Which could be seen as a lot of money invested if it werent for the potential full pot.

      Current budget;
      I think I had heard a speculated 70m was available (not sure where I read that although it sounds about right) without the sale of Suarez. The bones of 30m has been spent so far. Correct me on this figure if anyone knows what was on offer.

      Projected sales;
      Then you have the potential sales of some of the following Lucas, Reina, Enrique, Assaidi, Suso, Aspas, Kelly and Coates. Conservatively speculating 20m in sales as I would prefer to see some of those named kept as our squad is sparse as it is.

      Potential Transfer pot;
      That should leave a transfer budget in excess of £100m (not inclusive of the 30m spent to date). If it was made available in its entirety and invested wisely, we could do well in the current market and get 3-4 top key players and 2 solid squad players. Including Lambo, Adam and Emre, this could see us with 9 new players, minimum 6 of which should be starting 11 quality and really only losing 2 possible starting 11 (I expect Lucas to be sold to Napoli & at that he wasn't guaranteed starting 11) from the current side. That's a lot of new players to add in 1 window to what was already a very well performing squad. Lessons to be learnt from Spurs, shows that even when you buy supposed quality, they may not gel together or take time to do so. Granted we have a much better starting base and manager so this shouldn't be as much of an issue. What spurs did do well was to buy all the players before selling Bale which meant they didn't get rode by teams knowing they had a massive cash pile.

      Could be the most important window we have had in the past decade. F**k it up and we drop off and undo all the hard work it took to get us back to the top. Invest it all, and well, and we could run a muck on the league again without Suarez and show the world that we are here to stay.

      I'd love to see that kind of investment just as you outlined but I just have a feeling that we won't see anywhere near that. I hope I am wrong though.

      One word, Lovren.

      Surely we get Schneiderlin free now.

      We have needed a £100mil to spend for nearly 20 plus years in order to build a big enough squad. Surely with the Luis windfall and the original predicted spend we can at last build this squad to compete on all fronts which is what this club should be about .Interesting couple of months coming up

      certainly is. Heres hoping, if he is sold - which I hope falls through, FSG do the right thing.
