That's fair enough you never liked him, if the manager likes him that should do. Hes a good defender with huge experience in this league he would be a good signing particularly with 2 out injured

At this point it's only a rumour from a highly doubtful source, we don't know if the manager even likes him. Still not a fan of Lescott, we could do better

We could do better, yes no doubt, but at this stage he, if the story is true, is as good a signing as we will make at centre half. Illori is inexperienced, the Greek lad injured for months I believe. Sakho is probably the best we could get but if not Lescott would do a job no question about it

Vicks 7 million isn't a lot really. We cant moan about having loads of cash then say 7 million for an international is too much. Plus the fact clubs know we need to get a centre half in they'll play hard ball with us. 7 million to get him in Id do it without a second thought

I asked that earlier and was told the reporters are reliable but they redo transfer stories from other unreliable sources

So we are basically in now for 5 CB's and 1 attacking player according to reports.

Yep, the Echo rumor mill is plain bull crap. They even quote caughtoffside. So I'll go with other stories from the same pile of sh*t..

      - Gylfi Sig to be sold to Liverpool for 7 mil pounds

      - Liverpool in secret talks to bring Torres back to Anfield

      - Adam Johnson has emerged has the latest target for that left sided forward role

      F**k no, this cannot happen.

Lescott is sh*te and is only made to look semi decent due to the fact that he is partnered by Kompany. He is the Ferdinand to the Vidic. The Cahill to the Terry.

If Brendan wants him then fair enough but i just don't see the sense in this. Of all the centre backs we're supposedly in for it has got to be Papadopoulos and Alderweireld for me.

He may be experienced but he needs a strong character to partner him and Agger isn't capable of that. They would both be leaning on each other and that is not good.

A Spurs cast off who thought he was too good for us, no thanks.

Our Chelsea "cast off" seems to be doing reasonably well. As for him thinking he was too good for us, take the heart out of equation and all he did was a career choice - not all choices work out and that can be rectified.

As does our city cast off, but they came from pretty awesome squads challenging for the title. IIRC, spuds offered him more dosh, I maybe wrong but if that's his motivation he deserves to rot on the bench with Adebayor.

We need a good one in, not anyone in.
      This.

There were any amount of players we could have bid for and bought who are better (in a position most 'observers' reckoned we needed strengthening) than Lescott. If true, which I doubt, this would smack of desperation and if we are indeed "desperate" we need to ask why.

I'm beginning to believe our transfer committee isn't all it was cracked up to be to be honest.

Thought this for a while now as we lurch from one failed move to the next with seemingly little or no foresight or planning.

Having said that it could be that our scouting and preparation for players is fine but the erratic nature of targets is based purely on who the paymasters will allow us to sign.

This guy would not be a 'Brendan Rodgers' signing. Low quality player that everyone knew would struggle given that stupid price tag.

No there are better than him, even if we got him on a free.

Why don't we just make a bid for the guy Pelligrini is trying to bring in. They are looking at 4.5 mill, we offer 5. They keep Lescott, we get this fella. Can't be arsed going back to look at his name but if Pelligrini wants him at Citeh, there must be something about him.
