      Ref Clattenburg out for weekend

      Referee Mark Clattenburg
Clattenburg was criticised by Everton boss "The Chosen One"
Mark Clattenburg will not referee a Premier League match this weekend after being criticised for his handling of the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

Everton were unhappy with the official after he sent off Tony Hibbert and then only booked Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt for a two-footed lunge at Phil Neville.

Kuyt stayed on to score his second penalty to give Liverpool a 2-1 win.

Neither the league nor Clattenburg's governing body have confirmed his performance resulted in the decision.

A spokesman for the Professional Game Match Officials organisation said: "All match officials' performances are constantly monitored and assessed, with subsequent appointments being made on that basis."

After the Kuyt incident, Everton were further enraged last Saturday when Clattenburg ignored their claims for a penalty moments later.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher appeared to haul Joleon Lescott to the ground as Everton's nine men fought for an equaliser.

Neville has called on referees to be more consistent when making key decisions.

"Dirk Kuyt is not a malicious player but the bottom line is that he should have been sent off," the Everton captain told his club website evertonfc.com.

"We've had instances this season where players have been booked for the most trivial of incidents.

"But when you see a leg-breaking tackle like that one receive the same punishment that's when you get upset.

"We just want referees to be consistent. We have had officials come into our changing rooms this season and explain the rules.

"Two feet off the ground is a red card. That's why the players, the manager and our supporters feel so let down.

"This isn't asking for favouritism. We just want consistency and tackles like that to be outlawed."

Sorry to go over old ground but Gollum even had a go at Sir Mark Clattenburg (as he surely one day will be) in last night s programme before there epic tie with Melissa or what ever they are called.
I would like to draw your attention to the last paragraph as personally it had me in fits of laughter!

      Moyes furious at Liverpool 'cop-out'

Everton manager "The Chosen One" has launched a bitter attack on neighbours Liverpool following the club's 3-1 UEFA Cup win over Greek side Larissa.

Goals from Cahill, Leon Osman and substitute Victor Anichebe ensured an ultimately comfortable win but Moyes' thoughts before the game centred on last weekend's controversial Merseyside derby.

The Scot had already publicly expressed his disgust at referee Mark Clattenburg after he sent off two Everton players and denied them a late penalty in Liverpool's 2-1 win at Goodison Park last Saturday.

And Moyes turned fire on Liverpool themselves, branding their failure to join him in condemning Clattenburg as a "cop-out".

Moyes wrote: "I think it would be remiss of me not to talk about Saturday's derby against Liverpool.

"I have never known such widespread condemnation of a referee for his decisions in one game.

"But some of the comments which came from the opposition I regarded as a total cop-out."

And in a clear dig at Reds boss Rafael Benitez, Moyes added: "Here at Everton I always try and give a fair assessment, whether the decisions have gone for or against us. "That is the way I will always do it." :lmao:
