      Well done lads.

Well done JK .  Played the kids and got a result.

      Ojo's goal a cracker.

Proved that Benteke can't play in any team set up.
Need to get shot of .

No instinctive play ... not a natural.  No Tony Hateley there.

Saw the highlights and I can understand the criticism for Benteke but I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for him now. He is much better than what he is showing maybe not the movement but the sitters he is missing can't be doing his self confidence any good.
On the plus side he helped out at the back showing the benefits of a 6' 4" player defending corners.

I think his confidence is shot.

He was trying to make something happen, but it didn't really come off for him.

Ibe - Very frustrating at times. I was sat in the main stand last night and also noticed Klopp grow frustrated with him too which was interesting. Ibe is a talented lad, hes very quick and not many defenders can stay with him, but his decision making can be awful at times and his final ball isn't great. He trys to do too much, hes always trying to take on one too many players.

Interesting the difference of opinion regards Ibe last night, some ranking him as high as 9/10 and clear MotM.

I tend to share your view more than theirs, I thought he had a lot of opportunities to really hurt Exeter and took far too many touches than were at all necessary.

He did have a strike that couldn't have been any closer to going in and he did do plenty of work that hurt Exeter but if he is to progress to the next level he must speed up the time it takes him to get the ball and produce his end product, keeping hold of the ball the length of time he does often results in him being 2/3 manned and the ball having to be recycled back to our midfield.

When he does keep his touches to a minimum or certainly less than is his norm he actually produces much better quality.

Loved the way our young players knocked it about with confidence and created loads of good opportunities.. very enjoyable to watch.
but the amount of times Benchteke wasn't in the right position when the ball came in was frustrating.. hanging around on the edge of the 18 when a cross comes in onto the pen spot/6 yd line is not the body language of a centre forward..
He really needs to up his game and the sooner the better.. It's okay holding off centre halves but if you don't have the knack for scoring goals what's the point in playing him..
Good game but lets not forget these we're league 2 opponents who never really caused us any problems..

Norwich and Stoke next...big difference !

I think Ibe was really good last night he made things happen and terrified their defence. He made some poor decisions but he is a kid. He stands head and shoulders above the others kids and is the most likely of them all to succeed here. I like him because he acknowledges when he gets things wrong he holds his hands up and not many if any do that now. I gave him MOTM but a 7 or an 8 not a 9 out of 10.
As for the other kids its hard to see many making the first team other than possibly Smith they all seem pretty small framed and lightweight . Good to get 3 goals and a clean sheet at Anfield though and the West Ham game will be interesting for Jürgen's team selection

Agree on Ibe, but as for the kids being lightweight...not so sure about Ojo...he looks like he could lose a couple lbs to be honest ;D

F***ing made up with last night. It wasn't a vintage performance but it was a lot more assured than what we saw down at Exeter and moreover, our experienced players played well rather than sulking that they were put in with in the kids. Their experience and what should be a greater quality, shone through. It helped the young lads no end.

We scored three very good goals, could of had another a couple at least, the keeper looked assured and caught the F***ing ball. We got through what could of easily been a banana skin tie. We're still in the hat. We're still on for another 2001 style treble.

Crowd was a bit sh*t but that's expected at Anfield these days.

      Overall, made up.

Mignolet - had extremely little to do due to Exeter's lack of attacking. But what he was asked to do, he done with minimal fuss. Well done Simple Simon. Under scrutiny, especially with this new deal, so this was a welcomed sight.

Randall - I've been critical of the young right back in his few appearances so far but last night was far and away his best performance in a Liverpool shirt. Understandable that he had a cob on that he had to come off but I'm guessing that was always the idea to give Flanno a good forty minutes or so.

Ilori - started shakily but by the end was our best defender on the pitch. Won everything in the air when Exeter threw bodies forward towards the end of the game. Commanded the defence and it was a great turnaround from the game at St James', where he just gave up because his legs had gone.

Enrique - done alright all things considered. He must know his days at Anfield are winding down but he still gave his all. Tried a couple of his old passes that he'd give to Suarez. Defended well enough.

Smith - once again looked ready for the first team and looked as if he could give Moreno a run for his money. Always on his bike whenever the ball went forward, got the ball in the box quickly an all, which is something not many of our players do. Good pull back for the first goal of course.

Stewart - looked steady and assured but also looked sloppy in dangerous areas.

Brannagan - a bit like his performance at Exeter, far too quiet for far too long periods during the game. But when he was involved he was dangerous. Couple of decent efforts, couple of nice touches. Needs to be involved more though considering he's in the middle of the park.

Allen - probably his best performance in a Liverpool shirt. I don't care if it was only Exeter, it was a F***ing belting performance for Joey. Took his goal well, was involved constantly, closed down, kept the ball moving, got stuck in. A proper centre midfielders performance. He was boss.

Ibe - was involved a lot and at times looked dangerous, at others looked wasteful. It's a common trend with Jordon, when he gets the ball in early, it's usually a good cross. When he tries to get to the byline every single time, he more often than not loses it. Cracking effort with his left foot mind.

Teixeira - was probably our best player in the first half but drifted out of the game as it wore on, other than his goal of course which was very well taken. Would happily see him in the team in place of Lallana.

Benteke - had a very good game in every aspect apart from the putting the ball in the net, which is his primary job. Was pivotal in both the first and third goal. And was also available on the edge of the box for the second, should Ojo chosen to pass. It's the misses that people will remember though, a bit like his Belgian compatriot, he's under so much scrutiny that mistakes like his are magnified even more. Mind you, it was a F***ing terrible miss.

Flanagan - he's back! What a reception he got. It was a joy just him back on the Anfield pitch. I hope we see him pushing for a regular start again.

Ojo - impressed in the first tie, impressed again here. Quality finish. And looked dangerous throughout. Again, he should be pushing for a start in the Premier League. He's done a sight lot more than what some of our more senior players have done this year. Give him a place on the bench at the very least against Norwich.

Chirivella - again like Exeter, the game just passed him by.

forgot to mention Ojo he looks like a stayer and needs to be on the bench and coming on the goal last night showed real composure .
The lightweight bit was something Jürgen mentioned about Sinclair this is a physical league just look at how easy Allen is knocked off the ball and he is a fully grown Pirlo

Thought Joe Allen was excellent last night. He looks like the only senior player in our squad looking to prove a point at the moment. The only one who seems F***ing arsed.

Never thought I'd say this but he would be first name on the team sheet for me at the moment.

it almost feels wrong saying Joe should play he has been so poor in his time but I think he deserves his chance lets face it he cannot do any worse and he might even score  imagine that a midfielder scoring a goal or two

Or a thick tw*t!! Benteke was already in the mix then moved out to try and find space, possibly looking for a pull back. Getting too much sh*t from our own at the moment, wish they show more support at times rather than everyone thinking they're a F***ing footie manager.

We played very well and I liked watching the kids since I rarely ever see them in reserves. Allen and Ojo were impressive and hope the kick on in their careers in different ways.

Klopp inserts the believe even in youngsters not only the first team.

YNWA, I enjoyed it a lot. Now we need to beat the Hammers as a revenge for their double.

Benteke isn't the brightest, I'll put it that way.
When we bought him I thought we'd get that strength and direct threat but he's acting like Balotelli.
He didn't have a crap game though.

Benteke - Right its no secret I cant sand the lad but yet again I thought he was f**king atrocious. A bit of nice play from him for the third goal, which I thought he was lucky with from because where I was sat it looked like the defender should have cut the pass out, but apart from that he was really, really bad. Hes lazy and doesn't move, doesn't involve himself, and hes sh*te anyway he is a very very average footballer. He is no better with his feet than Andy Carroll was, in fact in my opinion Carroll is the better footballer.  What the f**k was all that at the end as well where he had a one on one and dribbled it out for a goal kick? The lad is f**king sh*te, get rid. Suarez must be laughing his tits off watching him.

Anyone who thinks Carroll was or is a better footballer than Benteke shouldn't be taken seriously when it comes to judging Benteke as a player. Benteke infinitely better. Even when he did something really well you try and spin it as luck. That was an excellent bit of skill. Had Coutinho, Firmino, or whoever done it there's no way you'd have that reaction. It was a fantastic bit of play. He also played a major role in our opener. It was a good enough centre forward performance, the only thing missing was a goal.

Owen got it spot on last night - GET IN THE BOX. He played fine, it wasn't terrible by any means, but every single time a wide player was approaching the box, he would drift OUT of it, rather than placing himself in a position where he could have got a head on to it.

      It was infuriating.

      The bad:

Benteke - baffling how the most experience man out there is one of the worst, playing with a bunch of youngsters. There was a period of play where Brannagan and Tex were interchanging passes on the right hand side and it ended with Brannagan crossing it in perfectly to the 6 yard box and Benteke is standing on the edge of the box. Throughout the whole phase he just stands there watching the ball being played about and doesn't move.

Stewart - don't think he's much. Looked off the pace from everyone around him.

      The good:

Joe Allen - got back, got forward, held the ball, moved it around, and scored a goal. Great performance.

Brad Smith - excellent instincts for a fullback and his delivery once again is brilliant.

      Flanagan - he's back!

Brannagan - my MOTM. He was everywhere, moved the ball brilliantly, linked up with everyone well, made runs forward and tracked all the way back. Really like watching him play.

Ojo - cracker! What a strike that was.

Texeira - classy on the ball and got a deserved goal. Real shame he probably won't make it here because he clearly has a load of talent.

Ibe - dangerous but his final ball is so poor and he always runs in to dead ends. Nearly scored a F***ing cracker though.

Enjoyed the match, was great to see all the youngsters play and really dominate Exeter.

Heard them singing the 'Stevie G slip' song.  Fair enough if it's Man City or Chelsea singing it, but Exeter? Come on now - behave!

Can't say I was massively impressed.

Didnt hear it, but wouldnt get too upset. With respect, since when did they last have a world class player, or compete in EPL title races?

We did what we had to do. This round is all about getting through. The Exeters and so on have their day out at this time of year, we have just 3 games to negotiate for our day out at Anfield South in the Spring.
