F***ing made up with last night. It wasn't a vintage performance but it was a lot more assured than what we saw down at Exeter and moreover, our experienced players played well rather than sulking that they were put in with in the kids. Their experience and what should be a greater quality, shone through. It helped the young lads no end.
We scored three very good goals, could of had another a couple at least, the keeper looked assured and caught the F***ing ball. We got through what could of easily been a banana skin tie. We're still in the hat. We're still on for another 2001 style treble.
Crowd was a bit sh*t but that's expected at Anfield these days.
Overall, made up.
Mignolet - had extremely little to do due to Exeter's lack of attacking. But what he was asked to do, he done with minimal fuss. Well done Simple Simon. Under scrutiny, especially with this new deal, so this was a welcomed sight.
Randall - I've been critical of the young right back in his few appearances so far but last night was far and away his best performance in a Liverpool shirt. Understandable that he had a cob on that he had to come off but I'm guessing that was always the idea to give Flanno a good forty minutes or so.
Ilori - started shakily but by the end was our best defender on the pitch. Won everything in the air when Exeter threw bodies forward towards the end of the game. Commanded the defence and it was a great turnaround from the game at St James', where he just gave up because his legs had gone.
Enrique - done alright all things considered. He must know his days at Anfield are winding down but he still gave his all. Tried a couple of his old passes that he'd give to Suarez. Defended well enough.
Smith - once again looked ready for the first team and looked as if he could give Moreno a run for his money. Always on his bike whenever the ball went forward, got the ball in the box quickly an all, which is something not many of our players do. Good pull back for the first goal of course.
Stewart - looked steady and assured but also looked sloppy in dangerous areas.
Brannagan - a bit like his performance at Exeter, far too quiet for far too long periods during the game. But when he was involved he was dangerous. Couple of decent efforts, couple of nice touches. Needs to be involved more though considering he's in the middle of the park.
Allen - probably his best performance in a Liverpool shirt. I don't care if it was only Exeter, it was a F***ing belting performance for Joey. Took his goal well, was involved constantly, closed down, kept the ball moving, got stuck in. A proper centre midfielders performance. He was boss.
Ibe - was involved a lot and at times looked dangerous, at others looked wasteful. It's a common trend with Jordon, when he gets the ball in early, it's usually a good cross. When he tries to get to the byline every single time, he more often than not loses it. Cracking effort with his left foot mind.
Teixeira - was probably our best player in the first half but drifted out of the game as it wore on, other than his goal of course which was very well taken. Would happily see him in the team in place of Lallana.
Benteke - had a very good game in every aspect apart from the putting the ball in the net, which is his primary job. Was pivotal in both the first and third goal. And was also available on the edge of the box for the second, should Ojo chosen to pass. It's the misses that people will remember though, a bit like his Belgian compatriot, he's under so much scrutiny that mistakes like his are magnified even more. Mind you, it was a F***ing terrible miss.
Flanagan - he's back! What a reception he got. It was a joy just him back on the Anfield pitch. I hope we see him pushing for a regular start again.
Ojo - impressed in the first tie, impressed again here. Quality finish. And looked dangerous throughout. Again, he should be pushing for a start in the Premier League. He's done a sight lot more than what some of our more senior players have done this year. Give him a place on the bench at the very least against Norwich.
Chirivella - again like Exeter, the game just passed him by.
