What a tit. Why do these clowns think that by building a bigger stadium then Anfield they become a bigger club then us? There is probably 3 clubs in te world who could argue to be bigger then us. Our history and our future will ensure we will always be at the very very top when people ask who is the greates or biggest club in the worlld

Quinn you clown your attendances were bigger because youve a larger capacity but what happens up there when things arent going well? empty fu**ing seats pal thats what. The only thing that I will say about this statement is extremely simple................

 If you are willing and able to throw enough money at something....it will EVENTUALLY bear fruit!

One of the old cliches that gets my goat is "You can't make the jump from 4th (end of season finishing position for example) to winning the Premiership".

All of a sudden....Chelsea had a bottomless pit of money and did exactly that by spending something like £200,000,000 in the space of 12 months!

Anyone that thinks this comment by Nial Quinn is a complete joke either knows the size of his wallet (or the investors) or could be in for a shock a couple of years down the line.

Modern day investment in football clubs can make anything possible....look at QPR.

If their billionaire owner is willing to invest serious money they could be back in the big time of Premiership football and challenging for a Champions League place in a couple of seasons from now....that is a scary thought!

Who would have thought five years ago that Chelsea would be appearing in a Champions League Final and winning back to back Premiership titles with a fan base barely capable of selling out Stamford Bridge??

The mans delusional, just as Sunderland are building a team to keep them in the division his head runs away with his heart. He should first realize that you have to have some sort of history to go along side the trophy cabinet and then you have to have a world base of fans to support you and not just a few extra supporters in London but the hardest thing of all is to keep it going year on year and this is what,your second year in the prem. Think some people here missed a few crucial words like CAN and IF! Where did he say we were bigger now? Are we not allowed to have ambition? It would appear not!
Why not talk about our attendances? They are bloody good. The 30000 crowds pointed out earlier in the thread were after the worst season in top flight history, slightly more impressive from that perspective?

I don't even think Sunderland has that many fans to fill a 60,000 seater. It would also take them 50 years of winning trophies to get to our size. It would also take a Roman Abromovich or a miracle to get Sunderland into the champions league. I hope this is the last time I see Sunderland and Champions League in the same sentence.
