He's a 20 year old footballer, who are not exactly known for being the sharpest tools in the shed.

He made a mistake, he's one of our own, lets not crucify the lad for it, it was dumb yes, the timing of it was bad, but I don't believe he thought it through clearly or had any real idea of the impact his statement would have had on or others or possibly his own career as if he did, he wouldn't have said it.

Saw this lad when he was on loan at charlton on his debut vs plymouth. Scored an absolute cracker took on three of them and did them for pace cut inside and hit one with his left right in the bottom corner.

There is no doubt he is one of a set of players who could be the future of the reds, especially when the financial rules kick in. Him, pacheco, suso, stirling etc, could in future have a big role to play. I also saw him play and thought he was very good.

Rochdale have signed Liverpool striker Nathan Eccleston on a month-long loan.

The Manchester-born 20-year-old has had previous loan spells in League One at Charlton and Huddersfield.

Last month Eccleston was investigated by his club for using Twitter to suggest the 11 September attacks were not the work of terrorists.

"He's a very good man, he's got a lot of fire in his belly, a lot of talent and loves to score a goal," manager Steve Eyre told the club website.

Reds confirm loan deal

Liverpool have confirmed Nathan Eccleston has joined Rochdale on loan.

The striker has signed a month-long deal with the League One side.

Eccleston has made nine appearances for Liverpool's first team, with the last coming in a goalless Europa League draw with FC Utrecht at Anfield in December 2010.

Hope he's in the squad today, showed real quality in the ressies last week.

What's going on with him? Shows so much promise when playing for the reserves, looks a real talent but never gets an opportunity? Think he'd be great linking up with the likes of Maxi, Suarez, Bellamy in the current system we have. Also with Carroll under-performing we really do need more striking option and we have a quick, tricky player with an eye for goal under our noses. Just hope he gets a run out in that FA Cup home tie to prove his worth before being shipped of as another Dani P.

Exactly.This is a key time in his career, he can make the step up to play for Liverpool and become a big player. Or he could potentially fall down through the divisions. He needs to prioritise and show us what he's capable of. And I really do wish him all the best in doing just that.
