If Rafa knows anything (which he does), Xabi isn't going anywhere.

But Benitez did all he could to sell him in the Summer...so don't be surprised if we see more links with Barry and Alonso close, if not gone, to leaving in the next couple of transfer windows.

I would be very tempted to say to Ramos "Give us Sneijder and we'll give you Alonso."

Xabi, this season so far, has proved we made a huge mistake trying to sell him in the summer!! He has been phenomenal for us, and should not be sold IMO.

He has played a big role in making sure we stay at the top of the league.

I bet that's one transfer deal that never went through , that Rafa must be happy about.  Xabi has been amazing this season now he his free from injuries. And hope he plays for the reds for a long time to come.
So Real Madrid can take a run and jump.

I'd have Alonso. He's a class player and he's taken his game to a new level, and I admire him for the way he dealt with the whole Gareth Barry saga and just continued with his football.

A lot goes on behind the prying eyes of the media and supporters, and it's worrying that there's so much talk of Alonso leaving.

Alonso cannot be replaced unless its Fabregas. These two are the only top drawer midfielders in the world who do what they do. They dictate play, they pass it round and create and provide a very solid foundation in midfield.

If Rafa' have his head on his shoulder he will not sell Alonso in the middle of his best start (1st in the league). Alonso been more consistence by playing his best football in lfc shirt. He also have played much better than gerrard but gerrard had injure in the middle of the first term.
