Help Kenny and Marina Dalglish Achieve New Goal
      Dec 12, 2008 09:49:41 pm
Kenny and Marina Dalglish have today launched a 'Buy a Brick' campaign in a bid to raise funds to build a new Radiotherapy Centre at Aintree University Hospital - and they are asking for your support.
Having successfully battled against cancer back in 2003, Marina set up an appeal which raised enough money to build a Chemotherapy Centre at the hospital.

Now the aim is to construct a much-needed Radiotherapy facility by 2010 and the 'Marina Dalglish Appeal' is giving you the chance to buy a brick in the new building for just £5.

"Kenny and myself have been constantly amazed at how much time, effort and money you have all been willing to donate, and we realize that nothing would be possible without your help," said Marina. "Thank you all very much and hopefully we can achieve our new goal."

If you are interested in buying a brick (or bricks) for this new appeal then simply click on the link below or call Dianne on 0151 709 7079 for more information.

Nice one Venison. I will be buying a brick.

The Dalglish family are special to the Liverpool community in more than one way and it's great to hear of this campaign.

Happy to support this cause at my old place of work as well - however I distinctly recall paying tax and National Insurance pretty much every single month.....

Do they not spend that on the NHS anymore?

What do you fans think about making a limited edition shirt like the one's worn by the players on Thursday night to help with the appeal.
I myself would like to purchase one and I'm sure most of you would and it would certainly help the cause.

Buy A Brick For Marina Dalglish
The Marina Dalglish Appeal has launched a Buy a Brick campaign to help raise £5million towards a radiotherapy centre at the University Hospital site in Aintree.

Working in conjunction with Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology, a much needed centre this side of the water will help to bring vital treatment closer to patients, who currently have to travel to the Wirral.

Marina Dalglish said: "The support the Appeal has received in the past has always astounded me. In 2007 the people of Liverpool helped us raise £1.5m towards an Oncology Centre of Excellence now up and running at the Aintree site and we are extremely grateful for their generosity.

"Without them, we would not be providing the specialist care we are giving to so many people today. The addition of a new radiotherapy unit will help Merseyside lead the way in treating cancer."

Bricks cost £5. Visit www.marinadalglishappeal.org, telephone 0151 709 7079 or 07933 097797, or write to The Marina Dalglish Appeal, 78 Seel Street, Liverpool, L1 4BH.

Good to see Marina and Kenny at Buckingham Palace last week to accept an MBE for Marinas' charity work, she did admit to being embarassed by all the attention - Mrs Dalglish you're a star.

Liverpool FC legend Kenny Dalglish in attendance as wife Marina receives MBE

      Oct 30 2009

LIVERPOOL FC legend Kenny Dalglish was amongst the crowd as he watched his wife receive an MBE.

Marina Dalglish, 54, who battled breast cancer after being diagnosed in 2003, was recognised for her services to breast cancer patients.

She launched the Marina Dalglish Appeal, which has gone on to raise £1.5m towards the cost of a new radiotherapy unit at Fazakerley hospital, which opened in 2007.

She now plans to build a radiotherapy centre at the Walton Centre, in Liverpool, which will specialise in treating brain and skull-based tumours.

Marina launched the Buy A Brick campaign to help raise the £5m needed to fund the centre by by 2010.

She said: “I have had breast cancer for six years and I wanted to put something back as a way of a thank you.”

Kenny added: "We are very proud. It has been fantastic what she has done, obviously with a lot of help.”

She received her MBE at ceremony at Buckingham Palace, which her daughters also attended.

Others who were awarded an MBE included singer Joe Brown, for services to music, and cyclist Nicole Cooke, for services to sport.

      Well in Marina. Thoroughly deserved.

That makes two MBE's in the Dalglish household.
