Watching the Office tonight (British version - the proper version not the ruined version in America) and gotta admit I'd forgot how funny it was. Absoloute quality and it was a shame they only did the two series of it.

Yeah Gow mate, got the Office box set a few years back for Crimbo and it's got all the out takes and deleted scenes on it.

The "hot seat" one with Tim is quality. Makes me laugh every time I see it.

I find it interesting that "younger" forum members seem to enjoy the same classic stuff we "more mature" forum members grew up with.

Sorry DLS didn't catch your previous mention of Rising Damp but what a masterpiece that was Leonard Rossiter was superb I always said he was one of the least appreciated comedians bar none.Same story with The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin that was before its time but it was only after his death that Rossiter got the credit he deserved and he was born of course in LIVERPOOL.

After Brooklyn Red's recent question on Facebook regarding a particularly sh*t sitcom (Bottom, if you're wondering), thought I'd bump this back up.

Last couple of years, I've really got into Open All Hours. Struggled to enjoy it when I first started watching it, but gotta say it is funny as F**k. Another one I've always love, and haven't mentioned yet, is Some Mothers Do 'ave 'em. Michael Crawford at his best as the legendary Frank Spencer.

Love this but my favourite from that era is still Faulty Towers.

One of my current favourites Curb Your Enthusiasm is soon starting a new series so really looking forward to that when it is on over here.

      Only Fools and Horses
      Dad's Army
      Porridge
      Royle Family

      The Office
      Rising Damp
      Steptoe and Son
      Auf Wiedersehen Pet
      Fawlty Towers
      Blackadder

      Other

It really depends on the mood I'm in but if push came to shove I'd have to say me personal fave is Porridge. It constantly makes me laugh because of how clever the jokes in the show are. I absoloutely adore the relationship between the in mates and the prison officers. It's a shame that the four main actors (Barker, Beckinsale, McKay and Wilde) have now passed away but it'll always be remembered as the best sitcom by me.

      What's yours?

All the ones highlighted in bold would probably make my top 10 list as well. Not a big fan of The Office although I personally loved Extras myself. Others for me along with the ones highlighted in bold would include Some Mothers Do Ave Em. I'd put I'm Alan Partridge for definite in my top 10 as well as The Simpsons which despite being the only American sitcom would probably top my list. I don't think anything will ever top what The Simpsons was in the 90s. Sure it may not be as good as it once was but it's still a worthy programme although the newer episodes are unlikely to go down in television history. It's had me in stitches and close to tears even! The episode where Homer's mother came back but had to leave him again at the end with Homer looking up at the stars as the credits roll gets me every time. I'm only 20 but half of the programmes listed are the ones my dad watched so I grew up watching them on repeat tv and VHS recorded from the tv!

Fawlty Towers was a classic. Probably say that was John Cleese at his best, didn't like The Flying Circus he did with Month Python, another of those shows that was just too silly.

And another of the classic shows that they didn't make enough of. Only the two series.

Although it could be that only two series helped preserve the quality.

Have to agree with Frankly Mr Shankly on I'm Alan Partridge. One of my all time favourites and Coogan's best in my opinion.
