      Royle Family - Christmas Special
      Dec 20, 2008 03:08:19 pm
      Christmas day at half 9.

It's round at Dave and Denise's where we see Dave's mam and dad for the first time. Anthony isn't in it because he's minding the kids, so there's no Baby David or Baby Norma.

I really can't wait for this, one of me favourite shows of all time.

Thought it started well when they were in the Royles but when they went to Dave and Denise's it just got silly especially that bollocks with the turkey. Wasn't as good as I was hoping for, certainly wasn't as good as last year's but Jim and Twiggy made me laugh like they always do.

Have to agree. Thought it missed Ant and the frozen turkey joke was flogged to death. What's happened to Dave and Denise? They used to be a bit vapid and now they're these slapstick idiots. Bored me to death.

Although i must admit i didn't find it as funny as usual i did enjoy the banter with Jim and Twiggy, Twiigy's straight face as he explained how a year in nick was just about right as eighteen months was too long and six months wasn't long enough did have me in stitches! but i was drinking Carling with Advocaat chasers by that point so probably would have laughed at Newsnight if it had been on.

I thought The Royle family was good enough but it was eclipsed by Gavin and Stacey a programme i found funnier and on the whole better produced, oh and of course the fact i was sober when i watched it helped! ::)

The BBC have spoken to the writers and asked if a new series could be written for 2009 so we may be seeing a bit more of them once a year. If they make a new series and it's anything like this year's special, I'd rather they left it alone.

I'd imagine they'd bring Anthony back, i.e. show more of him.
