      Robbie Fowler Leaves Blackburn

Robbie Fowler has been released by new Blackburn after manager Sam Allardyce decided not to extend his contract.
Fowler, 33, was signed by former Rovers boss Paul Ince on a three-month "pay-as-you-play" deal, which expires at the end of December.
Grimsby confirmed two weeks ago that they were in talks to bring Fowler in on a player-coach role.
Defensive coach Nigel Winterburn, who was signed on a part-time basis in July, also leaves Ewood Park.
Allardyce said: "We have decided to let Robbie Fowler go. His contract was due for renewal and I decided not to renew that.

Id just like to take the time to say good luck to Robbie Fowler whether he does take the Grimsby job or not, he was one of the greats for us!

Nah dont want him back, as a player that is. I hope Rafa can sort something out that when he gets some coaching experience he comes back to help our strikers.

His technique, tactics and finishing cannot go to waste when we have an abundance of players who could use this vital info.

He bleeds Red, i'm sure he'd be chuffed and it'll serve both parties extremely well.

Should come to Liverpool as a striker coach. He was a great striker and knows what he's talking about.

unfortunately robbie hasn't been fit enough for top class football for several years. he was a genius but his time has been and gone. good luck to him in whatever he decides to do.

He is also linked to moves to the MLS with the Chicago Fire being linked. This has been happening for the last couple of years.

Robbie Fowler, being at his best when I was a kid, was a huge factor in me supporting Liverpool. He was a genius and was my favourite player up until his departure. However, harsh as it may seem, I am of the attitude that its better to burn out than fade away. While I have respect for Robbie sticking to what he loves doing when its clearly not out of necessity (as the latest football rich list indicates), I cant help but feel that he's tainting his legacy by continuing to keep a grasp on a professional career. I fear that the younger generation of fans will look at him as "some old guy who cant hack it in the big leagues any more." I wish him all the best in pursuing his career, but I hope for his own sake he considers retiring before his reputation as a God around anfield fades.

Robbie Fowler might be going to the new north queensland franchise in the A-league.

Yes he has been heavily linked to the new North Queensland team although I am sceptical. These new ventures often very rarely materialise and there would be a lot of pressure on Robbie as a "marquee" player. Secondly North Queensland is a sh*t hole with an average temperature of 30 + year around, I am not sure a Liverpool lad at his age will adjust to the climate easily.

If he was going to move to this A-League I would like to see him at a more established club either Sydney or Melbourne.

Come on down (under) Robbie. I may finally go and watch an A League game if Robbie plays.
40c and 90% humidity in the summer though, the boy could very well melt.

I agree, maybe Sydney is the best place for him to be? (Please!) We have Brits, great weather and site's to boot although Sydney FC are full of wankers.
