Banging on about how it has to be an Englisman, Jenas going on about how hard it is to get coaching badges and the like.

That's strange as every one of our coaches from u16s level upwards have their Pro A Licence.

The one they need to Manage at PL and International level so if anything I'd say it's probably too easy for those with the money to pay for it, like ex players, who then expect to get a top level job rather than "learn" the job from the bottom up.

Jenas was also saying how the FA should have put somebody like Shearer, Gerrard or Lampard in with the new set up but then Linekar interrupted him by saying "but Neville was an assistant to Roy". Jenas' didn't know how to react but simply said something along the lines of "well Neville shouldn't be judged on Roy's management." I don't think Jenas knows that Neville fu**ed up massively at Valencia.

      Exactly Debs.

Jenas is an idiot and I'm not sure how he got the job he has.

They're dickheads, all of them.  I could do better analysis than most of them.

Just checked up on the Pro licence thing and Southgate is a perfect example.

Finished his playing career at Middlesbrough in 2006 and immediately got the Managers job after McLaren left for England duties, despite not having the required coaching badges.  He got special dispensation from the FA and PL after the Club argued that due to his extensive Club and International career he hadn't had the time to get them.  3 years later he's sacked after getting them relegated and gets the England u21s job where he's been ever since.

He's now looking after the senior team after declaring himself not ready for the job just 3 months ago.  How f**king long does he need?  Is 7 seasons not long enough to learn how to play and win Tournament football?  Or is he just not ready for the pressure and likes his comfy, cosy, cushty job developing kids that haven't a hope in hell of ever making it at the very top level and therefore isn't under the spotlight in terms of who our next generation of England Internationals will be?

Is that really the best the FA can do after the money that's been spent on their supposed "blueprint for the future"?  The kids aren't challenged at this level so the Manager shouldn't be either?

Sorry guys, I've gone way off topic but these supposed "expert pundits/ex players" haven't a f**king clue as they're has beens that haven't kept up with how fast modern football is passing them by.

The cost of going on the courses, in this country, when compared to the rest of Europe is scandalous. Someone is profiteering some where. My cousin's going to get his in Ireland, whilst on a two week holiday with the family and that is still cheaper than doing it through his local FA.

You're talking approx £20k from Level 1 through to the Pro A Licence with Level 1 starting at around £150.  Think it's less than £1000 in places like Germany and Spain mate.

Wasn't aware of this Rodders but Jenas seemed to be more concerned ex pros such as Scholes and Stevie weren't being approached to get top jobs.

Those guys can easily afford to get their badges.

Think Stevie's already well on his way to getting his Pro Licence Si, he was taking some sessions at the Academy before he left.  Problem is there's a massive difference between taking the odd session with a group of star struck 11/12 year olds and actually doing it day in, day out with the pressure of getting results at pro level.  That's where it goes wrong for most of the ex players, they want to or think they should walk into the top jobs without learning the job properly first.

Our Academy coaches job is to prepare the lads for the first team, there is no pressure on them to get results in the League.  Yes they want to win but their job isn't on the line if they don't, they're judged on how many make it at Pro level after they leave the Academy.  Whether that's with our 1st team or somewhere else.

I just found this (although from 3 years ago) on espnfc.co.uk...

The basic FA Level 1 course is £150, while Level 2 rises to £340. Then comes a steep increase. The standard cost of a UEFA "B" License -- a prerequisite to work at a professional club's academy -- is £990, and it can cost as much as £2,450. In Germany, the cost is €430; in Spain it is €1,100. For the UEFA "A" License, an English coach could pay a maximum of £5,820 -- but in Germany it is €530 and in Spain €1,200. Being a member of the FA's Licensed Coaches' Club (free to join for anyone with a basic Level 1 qualification) brings the cost down by 25 percent but the prices are significantly higher than on the continent and unquestionably difficult for the average person to afford, unless sponsored by a club

What's even crazier is that people who run local kids teams have to have the licence to coach them yet they wonder why grass roots level footy is dying.  So long as the FA rake in the money, they'll continue to exploit those involved.

Some one, some where, is profiteering off the costs of these courses. It's when you hear about some of the FA perks, you know were the money is going. In Somerset, one of the members of the FA is also on the FAs disciplinary board, so he gets 1st class travel on Train, which ain't cheap, free food at a top restaurant as well as other expenses for this day out. The old farts at the FA is an apt moniker, all they care about is their gravy train and grass roots can go and jump.

And yet every two years after another shameful England exit, the same pair are banging on about 'Something has to change'. Oh the IRONY of them inferring that the likes of Bruce should now get the job.

For someone who talks so much, he doesn't half come out with such banal sh*t does Jenas. Not half as good as he thinks he is. Him getting schooled by Lehmann on 5 Live over the summer at Euro 2016 was quite something to hear. The condescending tone of Lehmann in response to Jenas during one commentary was fantastic!

Its not just MOTD that has these idiots.

Look at every Sports channel, they all have these ex players as pundits, and none of them have that one character trait that knows the game, lets take a look: Phil Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Savage, Paul Merson, Danny Murphy, Alan Smith, Matt Le Tissier, Michael Owen,  Chris Sutton, Danny Mills. As far as pundits go, every sports channel now is bottom of the barrel stuff, pick a well known idiot, disregard the idiotic choices they made as a player but take as gospel every word they say once they work for whatever channel they are working for as they know best....sort of....

Did Phil Neville seriously just tell Karius to shut up just because he fired back at his c**t manc brother? F**k's sake if that's what you are thinking about when analysing a game and a player, what are you even doing there? Poor by him bringing that up again, really poor. You're supposed to analyse a game and comment on situations, not protect your rat manc brother because he was offended. How old is he? 10? Cry me a river f**king crybaby.

There's also nothing I hate more than pundits (most of the time former outfield players) commenting on errors by goalkeepers. You know f**k all about it, don't act like you do. Talking about 'poor' footwork and whatever. If anyone should comment on goalkeeping errors, at least let it be a former goalkeeper who knows what he's talking about.

Just a much shi**er version of his brother throughout his career it seems.

For his sake I hope he never goes into management, judging how Gary got on he would be making all the wrong kind of records.

Also - telling Karius to shut up. Just smacks of bitterness, Karius will know more about goalkeeping than those two f**king idiots ever will.

A joke how he's on the bandwagon of that Class of 92. The only players that made it from that era were, Scholes, Becks and G.Neville, rest were average or crap, don't get why they associate P.Neville with them, absolute sh*t player at best.

The Neville or the Ne ville brothers have surely lost credibility. The Spanish debarkle exposed them.

This is the problem with Sky and MOTD. The pundits rattle away without any checks so a kind of "I'm always right disproportionate mentality" takes over.

Put them into the real world and expose them to reality of management and they can't understand why they get stuff wrong. It could just be that in real management you have to make decisions at the 'coal face'......not an hour after the match,  in the studio.
