Old Clubs and Pubs in Town.
      Jan 10, 2009 11:42:41 am
I was out last night having a drink with good friends when the subject of where we used go in town came up,well it was like all our yesterdays.
Some of the younger one's were to say the least gobsmacked!,we totaly lost the plot it was like being back there. Some of us even met our wives and husbands in those clubs and pubs.
Well to cut a long storey short here are some of the mensioned places can anyone say if they went to them.
      Tyfanny's
      The other place
      Ugly's
      Top Rank
      4 Winds
      Time Piece
      Erics
      Beachcomber
      Babaloo
      Night Owl
      Gladray
      The Temple
      The State
      Sign of the Dove
      Gatsby's
      Allisons
      The Sportsman
      Billy Joe's
      The beerkeller
      Scott's/Firday's
The list was endless but it brought back so many memories of how the town used to be cheap ale and a good night out and then the walk home stopping off at a chippy that was still open early hours in the morning eg the Valley Road no trouble just a good night time  :drinking:oh those were the days.

Where was your spot in town and how much was your first pint mine was 1/6d Brown Bitter.

A good few of those are probably a bit before my time there mate.

I used to go the State though. Never went to the Other Place but I used to go to Cream which was next door.

I remember Fridays as well!!  :D Used to go there before we went to The Buzz!  :lmao:

Used to also go the Pen And Wig and the Why Not.

I wonder how many of those places you mention have a different name these days?

Oh Yeah, the Pen and Wig and Why Not ?  2 great pubs them Kenny, and what about the Crocodile across the road ?

I remember me and me mate went to the Why Not? one night and cos we wanted to get drunk quick, like you do, we got 2 bottles of Carlsberg Special Brew cos that does the trick, anyway I was new to this bevvie and when I first tasted it - yuk !!   We bought 2 bags of Cheese and Onion Crisps to eat while we were supping to mask the taste, just so we could get bevvied !!  :lmao:
