      Forum alterations - your opinions..
      Nov 13, 2006 09:04:41 pm
We have amended some of the forum permissions.

Firstly, if you can read this message then you must have made more than 100 posts as this sub-board 'Melwood' will be available to more experienced posters on the site.

Secondly, we have prevented new users from posting new topics until they have made 50 posts in replies to other topics.  This will probably help stop Foxy's and the like from starting a million topics on the same thing to wind us up.  It will also allow us to try and correct people who join the forum without reading the rules, ie. using txt language, ALL CAPS etc.  There is a Newbie board which WILL allow new users to post new topics (ie. introduce themselves to the forum).

Just wondering what you thought? Is 50 posts the right amount before users can begin starting new threads?

And is 100 posts to access this board too restrictive - should we lower it?

I think it's a top idea. At least we won't have people coming here to post one topic and then never post again... and I think that 100 posts might be a little too much, maybe lower it to 75?

We will keep an eye on the 50 posts mark for posting new threads then.

We don't want to be restrictive but it's just to stop millions of new threads starting on roughly the same things.

      Thanks for your feedback.

I like it! I'm colourblind so it's a little bit happier on the eyes haha.

I think that the new thread number may be a bit too low, but the 100 posts for Melwood is a good number! Feels good to be part of the elite  8)

The real big problem is that this forum won't support 6 stars...you know for after Athens in May  ;)

Need to bend all of your expert ears again....

Firstly this Melwood board will be increased to users who have made 150 posts.  We have decided to leave the post count before you can start new threads at 50 for now.  Thanks for your verdicts on this.

Secondly, we have an option to alter the forum to display posts in reverse order in a thread ie. when you click on a thread the latest post will be at the top.  It's just an option (I don't particularly think it will be good) but just thought I would see what your opinions were on it??

And Thirdly, we can elect to change the number of posts displayed in each thread before you have to go to the second page, third page etc.  I think it is set at about 25 at the minute.  I know not many of our topics had made it on two pages (due to the multi-threads I mentioned) but because of the changes I expect there to be longer topics in future.  How many posts do we want on a page before we go to the next page???

(If you're all thinking I am a sad b***ard with no life then... you're probably right  ;))

Anyway you can increase my number of posts in some kind of shady way.  Smigger's getting a bit close to the 1000 mark now.

If you can't - can you please ban Smigger.  She called me a nobhead at the match last week. ;)
