It's surprising that you are giving more importance to quantity instead of quality..You are the mods so your responsabilities are to make the rules, because I choose to come in here at anfield online I'll follow them, if I didn't feel comfortable I would just stop coming in here. I just don't understand why THIS forum has to be for people with over 104 posts..What does that changed? what are the benefits of it? who is a most experienced poster, a person who post 150 "I agree with X", or someone who 50 times will add something interesting to a new topic?...
Not at all. We are not giving more importance to quantity to quality AT ALL. I have been here on the forum from practically the start, but I'm not the top poster.
This 'Melwood' board was set up with the initial intention of getting some feedback from 'regular' users. We had no other mechanism in place to separate out users who visit the forum regularly apart from the post count. I don't think it mentions anywhere else on the board that this Melwood board even exists so we certainly haven't set it as a 'target' for anyone to reach.
Trying to organise the forum, to enable the best user experience, is something we are constantly thinking about.
We introduced two key things
1. The 25 (or 27!) reply rule before you could Post New topics. This was principally to stop commercial companies, opposing supporters and just plain idiots signing up and starting a thread to flame Hillsborough, advertise their Viagra etc etc. That has worked well.
2. The idea of setting up tnis board (and I'm not saying over 100 posts is the right figure) was in response to a number of competitions we ran which were won by people simply registering to enter. It is our intention that in the future existing users, such as yourself and everyone else who is able to read this message, will be more highly regarded when it comes to stuff like that. It's about recognising the regular posters who contribute and make the forum lively and interesting, and actually quite a funny place to spend a bit of time with.
I look forward to more of your posts Cy, you're an asset to the forum, and your posts are definitely on the quality side of the debate.
