From what I can gather last nights meeting to finalise things was only postponed because some of the legal documents weren’t ready.
On North West news they have been running nightly reports from Dubai regarding the takeover, the Sheik is a winner second place is not good enough so for starters he may chuck money at some of our problems for a quick fix. But then the hard work begins of building a long-term strategy for the club to ensure future success.
One of the last remarks made by the reporter to good old Gordon Burns was, “I think we will see a shift in the power base in the North West From Man Utd to Liverpool and there fans should be very excited by this takeover”.
Everything I have read and heard suggests we have nothing to fear, quite a few of the DIC board are reds who where in attendance in Istanbul they know our culture and they certainly know our history. They are winners with a track record of long-term investment for present and future success.

US bid hitch to LFC takeover

      Jan 22 2007

By Ian Doyle and Emma Cruces

AN AMERICAN billionaire is set to make a new bid that could seriously delay Liverpool FC's attempts to finalise a takeover deal, it emerged last night.Sports tycoon George Gillett Jnr, who owns the Montreal Canadians Ice Hockey club, is poised to make a bid which values LFC at around ÂŁ170m.That is slightly more than the ÂŁ155m at which preferred bidders Dubai International Capital are thought to value the Anfield club.DIC, the international investment arm of Dubai government-owned Dubai Holdings, is currently in a period of due diligence after making a ÂŁ450m bid for the club in December.

This man lost me the minute he mentioned shared stadium!, the only problem now is it wont go ahead with DIC until after the transfer window shuts the board seem to prefer DIC so why is this man chucking his hat in the ring at such a late stage?

It was meant to be completed this week, now because of this new bid due diligence will "stall" it for perhaps another month. I didnt say it wouldnt happen it will just take a little longer.

      Quote:

"It was hoped a deal would be finalised within the next few weeks so work could begin on the new 61,000-seater Stanley Park stadium in spring.

But the surfacing of Gillett's renewed interest is likely to cause the three-year takeover saga to drag on for at least another month."

the only thing that will stall it is the fact that gilett has the right to look at the books himself. he has alrerady been told that liverpool want d.i.c and he would want to bring in his own people so i cant see him getting anywhere with this bid i wouldnt worry about it.

I never expected the d.i.c deal to go through till february anyway that was the original assessment from the club to begin with.

this gilett can F**k off don't want some F***ing yank owning my/our club, if we're gonna be taken over by anyone then it might as well be by someone who has estimated wealth of ÂŁ15 Billion.

Surely he doesn't think Moores will do business with him (its not like David wont make a tidy profit going with DIC), as he has only offered to buy the shares - he hasn't guaranteed paying off the debt or how he would build the stadium, he apparently favours a groundshare, so as I said he's knob who knows nothing about what the fans want !

The key men from DIC are all Reds, this guy probably hasn't even been to Anfield !

As long as the reds end up with DIC, a slight delay may work in our favor with regard to the new stadium that is. I read in the Express today Sports minister, Richard Carbon is trying to introduce through the 'Independent European Sport Review' a salary cap for the premiership and restrictions on clubs to spend a maximum of 75% of revenue on transferrs and salaries. ( Goodbye Chelski)This is also implemented for Italy,France, Germany and Spain. The best bit is....'The minister meanwhile will be asked to consider the return of terraces after a survey showed 95% of fans support a rebel MP's campaign for standing. Mike Hancock, the member for Portsmouth South, has 105 MP's backing his Early Day Motion for the return of standing area's.'  Welcome back THE MIGHTY KOP. Has anybody else heard anything on this ?

Standing will never come into stadiums again, shouldn't be allowed if only for the memory of the lost LFC fans.

Can you imagine spening 200m on a stadium to have standing terrace, sorry no !

The DIC are taking this at a relaxed pace, one at a time. That looks promising, they must be really patient workers. Patience is virtue! I'm positive that the DIC is the better bidder for taking their work seriously as well as understanding the fans!

Sorry but the LFC fans lost at Sheffield was not due to terracing but to a lack of respect for fans by authorities everywhere,  Caging fans in like animals ! This would never happen again, and remember, most of the lost fans were where they loved to be, on the terrace !!  Surely SAFE terracing would be more of a mark of respect.

There is actually safe standing terraces built in new stadiums in Germany, Hamburg have one of them. I am not disrespectful to the memory of the 96, I will fight for justice for their families, but I don't want to sit down at football matches. The Germans have terraces that are segregated as they go back, there is no weight of fans pushing on fans at the front, there are no fences. Standing terraces are not the reason for the Hillsborough Disaster, Blaming them was a Kop out. The Yorkshire constabulary should have done their job.
