      Everton v Liverpool - Pre-match
      Feb 02, 2009 03:55:38 pm
      20:10 Wed 4th February
      FA Cup 4th Round Replay
      Live on ITV1

Everton have frustrated Liverpool at times this last month, with both results ending in a 1-1 draw.

Can the Reds knock their ever-so-bitter neighbours out of the FA Cup - Everton's only chance for silverware?

      Of course!

      Possible XI:
Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher, Agger, Dossena, Mascherano, Alonso, Babel, Benayoun, Gerrard, Torres.

I expect a very strong side from Rafa, to keep us going and knock the Blueshite down. We're definately going to win this in normal time and by a few goals too.

Fabio in for Doss and thats the team i'd play.

Is right, full on repeat performance like yesterday and get stuck in to the blueshite, is joanna cup-tied? could do with them having a striker who can play, hopefully then they'll come at us

Cos it's live on ITV and they've got to get Corrie on first!!

Got a good feeling that it will be a similar line up to that what finished the game against Chelsea except for Torres playing and not N'Gog.

Take the momentum into the game and we can win this without being troubled, we have proved we can do it because we done it against Chelsea (ok it was at home but that sh*t hole Goodison isn't exactly a daunting place to play).

Torres will be brimming with confidence and i can see him bagging a few in the game.

Apart from the substitution of Torres after the second goal, we  virtually finished the match with Torres, Gerrard, Benayoun, Babel, and kuyt all on the pitch, 5 attack minded players.

The withdrawal of Mascherano, to allow for this was for "once"  an attacking move, but one wonders whether this was only triggered by

       (a)  The reduction of Chelsea to 10 men

       (b)  The dire possibility of another draw, likely to make winning the league a more unlikely prospect.

What I would like to see is this attacking approach being adopted week in and week out, starting right here with Everton. Look how dangerous it made us look late on in the game when the kitchen sink was being thrown at Chelsea.  I just worry that Rafa will see this as many fans seem to on this forum, and that he will revert to a more conservative approach as seems to be his nature.
The other thing I would like to see is Hyypia in against Everton, to thwart the heading ability of Cahill on set pieces. He is to my mind the best option to get his head on the ball ahead of Cahill, where others have seemingly in the past just stood and watched him.

I've just heard a rumour that one of the strips of under-soil heating at Goodison has packed up and they've got engineers or plumbers or whatever in to try and fix it.

      Tickled me.

Is it right that Xabi's suspended for this? That can only mean one thing... Lucas :).

Unless Benayoun comes in and Kuyt partners Torres perhaps.

No, I think it takes a week before he can't participate in a match, so we do need to win this.

That's the 5th round, provided we get that far, if not it's a league game.

There's a pretty good incentive to win this, I reckon.

Ah I understand now, so if we get through to the 5th round, then he will serve his suspension then which im guessing is next week midweek? and then if we don't, he'll serve his ban in the league game we have next weekend?

The best solution is to play the same team we played against chelsea in the very same approach attacking football with lots of pace not letting them settle on the ball , end result we win and build on our consistency now thats what we need in every game nothing less .

A Torres special in Goodison again I hope..

                                              Reina

      Arbeloa                 Carra                 Hyypia           Insua

                              Masch                 Alonso
      Kuyt                                                            Lucas
                                          Gerrard
                               Torres

Im gonna say 2-0 but I think we'll be doing well to beat them before Peno's ,Riera is never fit enough to finish a full game and i just dont want to see Babel play thats why i thnk Lucas might start RW

Don't think Insua will be back for Wednesday - infact I know he won't be.

Lucas is no left-winger either ... other than that it's a decent lineup.

Think I would like to see Riera rested for this, and maybe Skrtel. Give Dossena another go, and perhaps play Benayoun left midfield.
