Sounded really serious when they said it's a 'tear'. Not even a strain or a pull.

wait what about the international break? that does help our cause you know...as he there will be no premier league games that still leaves another 2 weeks...we can play without Gerrard, its the players that needs to realize they are too reliant on him to get them through they game...they need motivation like the man u game...and we will be fine

I think we need motivation from last season's game against Derby, haha. Where we didn't need Stevie AT ALL.

If we can't beat pompey and boro without gerrard we don't deserve the title. It's a huge loss but we still have some very good players and some good players with ordinary form that just need to step up.

I wonder if that tosspot Capello will ask SG to report to The English training camp to assess the injury himself  :f_whistle:

Its not that Gerrard's injury has got me all tensed up,I believe we can manage without him.Its the thought of the guy who might be asked by Rafa to fill in for him i.e. Lucas now getting a regular run in the team that has got me eating up my nails.

We got a result against manure without Stevie and had a reasonable run without him,he was badly missed of course but unlike the bitters fiasco we or rather Rafa has time to make some measured tactical desicions and hopefully the team responds in the Liverpool way by stepping up a gear and confounding the bullshitters. Lucas has improved dramatically in the last few games IMO and this could be the making of him.

As I said if we have title ambitions we should be beating pompey without Stevie.

Just 1 point tho. Why are so many whinging about the fact hes out for a few games when earlier this week we didnt need replacements in our squad? We had a big debate about this earlier in the week and everyone was happy that we had enough about us now with Stevie out for a couple of games people are saying the season is over?

Good news, he may not be out as long as first thought - problem still remains that he could do a Torres and get hurt right away again.  Pray that doesn't happen.

We did it before we can do it again its all about self belief

The most important thing for the players is self-belief, they need to believe in their ability to overcome lesser opposition without influential players i.e. Gerrard and Torres. Throughout the season the players have done this with key victories over the Mancs (home) and Chelsea (away). The time has arrived for them to prove their worth to the team and prove once again to the doubters that we can win without Stevie and Nando.:scarf:

Okay, we beat Chelsea and Man United wthout Fernando Torres.
      It's not, without Steven Gerrard.

Steven Gerrard played against Chelsea and came on as a substitute against Man United. We didn't score until he came on. Coming on as a substitute doesn't qualify as "without him".

      ------------------------------EDIT-------------------------------------------

Just read that he may be back sooner than expected. If he heals fast enough, he can play the Man City game, meaning he'll only miss the Portsmouth game.

I don't think he'll rush him back for the city game after what happened when he brought back torres.

Gerrard isn't going to be injury free. Face it when our best player plays there is also always a risk that he ends up injured. We have to be thankful that it came a time like now and not 2 weeks later. If it happened to him 2 weeks later or 2 weeks before this, our season would be absolutely screwed. Not saying that I want him to be injured, I do want him to be injury free but sometimes this things cannot be avoided and we have to take heart from the fact that Gerrard is injured at the right time- when we are playing less.

Not heard much on the injury.

Have there been any updates I've missed? Preferably along the lines of 'He is match fit.'

Nothing to report I'm afraid, scoured the net and various other sources.
He may be back for the City game, but probably be rested as a precaution.  Bearing in mind Real Madrid game is rapidly approaching.
