Liverpool v Manchester City (Sat 25th November 2006 3pm) Premiership

So what's the team going to be then - injury crisis or not? Are we going to get some points in the Premiership this weekend? WIth Chelsea playing United it is vital we get all three to close the gap on at least one of them.

What''s your predictions - are you going?

      Barton v Gerrard...

Stuart Pearce has been saying about Stevie and Barton:

"Steven Gerrard is a yardstick for any midfielder because he is as good as anyone else in the world," said Pearce.

"He comes from the same neck of the woods as Joey, they are friends and he is definitely someone Joey can measure himself against."

I expect the midfield to be Garcia - Gerrard - Zenden - Riise ... 3-0 to the Reds - Gerrard and Kuyt with a couple.

garcia didn't look fit to me last nite, maybe try Bellamy on the right, at least he's got pace and will run at defenders.
times like these, we need the players like Flo Pongo back,   just a thought - how far is Paul Anderson off the first team ???

I'm probably the only man to acheive this feat, but I predicted the team correctly for the last two games.

      I'm going for

      Reina

      Finnan Carragher Agger Riise

      Garcia Gerrard Alonso Zenden

      Kuyt Crouch

If Pennant's fit I think he'll play right and Garcia left.

      Garcia

      Zenden

      Kuyt
      Crouch

Since Gonzalez, Pennant, F. Aurelio and Warnock are injured, I'd see how Bellamy would play on the left side.

I agree a great player who really we should never have sold in my opion, he would have slipped right in now seeing as we have momo and xabi out. A great servant for this club and a true German scouser if there is such a thing lmao ;D. Gotta love his accent!! Deutch Scouse great stuff. Nearly as good as Jan Molby's

Rafa has bigged up the captain ahead of today's clash.

      http://www.anfield-online.co.uk/news/lfc-news/2006/11/25/rafa-on-the-re-awakening-of-amazing-stevie-g/

Think it will be a bruising encounter for Stevie G against The Kaiser and Barton - but good to see Rafa getting behind him.

Anyway, I am just off to the game now.  KK will put the live chat on the forum for the game.  Sure there will be some posts to streams and stuff if you ain't going the game.  Let's hope it's another succesful win and we are above the blues at the end of the day.

      Half-Time
My thoughts on improvement is our passing. I think Garcia is doing too many stupid flicks & we should just pass it round simple to open the gaps.
Crouch should have buried one but instead smacked it over the bar.
Somthing doesn't feel right about this game. The mood isn't there.
But football is a game of two halfs so lets see what happens in the forthcoming 45 minutes.

      Cheers Smigs. Nicely put..  ;)

Good win.  We dominated the game but even I thought they were going to hold out.  Glad we broke through - it had to be Stevie G.

Up to 8th, let's hope for a draw tomorrow.  Another 3 points on Wednesday please guys.

A good win - was starting to worry we weren't going to break through.  Read some reports on the net today about the game and the media have it in for us so much.  We dominated that game.  If we had scored early on we probably would have smashed a few past them.

They came for the point and we finally broke them down.  We haven't lost at Anfield for 26 games or something like that - we're no mugs. I still remain very upbeat and looking at the table I see that from 3rd to 8th is all very tight and starting to pull away from the rest.

I think we will be top three within a few weeks, and then hopefully it's a case of watching the top two slip up (especially when they visit Anfield).  Don't write our chances for a last minute challenge off just yet.

(Oh and good work on the voting folks - correctly predicted Gerrard as first scorer - I will maybe canvass your opinions before I lay my bet next time!)
