Which strikers deserve more credit then they get?

For me it has to be K. Jones of Sunderland.
He is a regular scorer this session and a threat in the box with his broad frame. He would be a great back up to Torres for us.

If I can include players from the past, I would say John Aldridge. He was fantastic for Liverpool and not always given the recognition he deserves. The team with Barnes and Beardsley played the best football from any Liverpool team that I have seen.

Darren Bent. Always scores but never manages to secure a spot because there are 'better' players ahead of him (Pavlyuchenko ::) ) Now he could be back up for Fernando.

Cisse, great player. John Carew, Jeremy Aliadiere and Ched Evans just to name a few.

cisse still got it i reckon, great finnisher, clever, maybe not got the pace he used too but still good.

i reckon obafemi martins is a class player, hes soooo quick he just pulls defenders all over the place, maybe not the cleverest player, but he can finnish, but his pace is electric

andy johnson is also a good player, bet everton are wishin they never got rid of him ;D

n of course to round things off its gotta be beattie, hes the reason stoke will stay up this season, he was a bargin n he sure to score goals at ne lvl.

      Cisse and Carew.

Would like the latter as back-up for Torres next season, as I've mentioned in other threads. I think he'll be perfect until N'Gog has developed and matured.

Agree with Darren Bent, I don't see how Pavlyuchenko gets in ahead of him.
He's English as well if I'm right, would be useful to get as a Torres back-up, and also if they make more rules about English and foreign players.

In my book, Aliadiere is up there as the worst striker in the premiership, don't rate him at all.  I'll accept Cisse though, I've always liked him, seems to be a nice guy as well.

Don't agree, a world class striker is not going to be content with sitting on the bench, especially when Rafa plays 4-5-1 with Torres up front on his own.

We need a good striker who is prepared to play second fiddle to Torres.

I wish we'd never had sold Crouchie  :(

      Exactly.

Louis Saha  (even though he plays for Everton) is really underated, great player.

      I agree.
Fowler was under-rated, or maybe it's just because he wasn't a Manc.

      Such a slick finisher.

This would be my choice, Martins is class.

 Underrated striker....... it's a bit of an oxymoron.......most strikers at their clubs who are doing their jobs properly are worth their weight in gold.
Players who generally fall into this category are the likes of Heskey and he couldn't score most weeks with an open goal twice in a match.
Dirk Kuyt doesn't get the credit he deserves but then he rarely plays up front yet pops up with important goals when push comes to shove at the business end of the season.
The only one I can think of in the Premier League at this time is Kevin Davies, gets deployed in a negative system, usually out wide, used as a battering ram for long diagonal balls. He can finish when the opportunity arises and I am sure that if he had a central striking role in a team that can supply he would get twenty plus a season

I don't watch West Ham or take much notice of other players from other teams, to be honest...but what about Carlton Cole?

I got him assigned to me in my Times Fantasy Football team and he has earned me quite a few points.
