There is a piece in todays Daily Express but how reliable they are is anyones guess.

GLENN Roeder faces a battle to hang on to Obafemi Martins after Valencia set their sights on Newcastle’s top scorer.

The Spanish club have targeted the 17-goal striker to replace £20million-rated David Villa, who is set to join Liverpool in the summer.

That would leave Valencia with money to test Newcastle’s resolve with a £13m bid for a player Roeder paid £10m for only nine months ago.

Latest news on david villa... I hope what i have read and heard is not true, however, david villa has expressed that he doesnt want to leave Valencia... (he has a $100million buy-out clause attatched to that as well) Read the article i found below...

Villa: "I Want To Stay At Valencia"
      Wed 13 Jun, 12:09 PM

Spain striker David Villa wants to remain at Valencia despite reports linking him with a move to the Premier League this summer.

The 25-year-old Valencia marksman has been a target of top English clubs for the past year, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool reportedly battling to acquire his services.

However, Villa, who is under contract with the Primera Liga outfit until June 2013 and has a buy-out clause of £100m, believes his future is with Los Che.

"My wish is to stay here," said Villa. "Not only this year but in the future because I am under contract and I hope I can extend it.

"In any case, we will have to wait and see what happens this summer."

Villa's reputation has grown since joining Valencia in 2005 from Real Zaragoza.

He has scored 15 goals in 35 league appearances this campaign, helping Valencia secure fourth position in the Primera Liga, which guarantees Champions League football next season.

I'd actually translate that as: 'I'm not going to say I want to leave in case no-one pays the money for me, but I'm open to offers this summer'

There's nothing wrong with Americans my friend, they own our great club and will be the one's who put the cash up if we were to make a bid for David Villa! I'm from a little town called Liverpool, you may of heard of it, we just like a bit of a laugh every now and then and tend not to take life too serious ;)

Just not sure what was ironic about your earlier statement - Americans are well known for not getting irony. Maybe I've missed something.
