      D.B = Derek  Brownbill CF 1973–1974 Liverpool F.C appearances 1

or if it helps with the current squad I could use my middle name initial.

      JP.

Jimmy Payne - also played for the bitters

Jermaine Pennant - Need I say more?

Jimmy Payne it is then, atleast I played only 6 times for them!

      PROFILE
On his day Liverpool born winger Jimmy Payne was quite brilliant and early comparisons likened him to Stanley Matthews and Tom Finney.

However, Payne was a confidence player and was dogged by inconsistency and supporters turning on him. In fairness to Payne though he was switched from his best position in a misguided move and wasn't at all comfortable in an inside left role.

He made his Liverpool debut in September 1948 against Bolton Wanderers and missed only one league match up until the end of the season. He played in the 1950 FA Cup Final when Liverpool lost 2-0 to Arsenal.

After losing confidence he made the short trip across Stanley Park to join Everton in April 1956 for a fee of around £5,000 but a series of niggling injuries saw him make just six appearances for the Blues, and he announced his retirement from the game at the premature age of 30 to become a newsagent in the city.

I have a few choices...Malcolm McVean and Matt McQueen from the 1890s and of course Mike Marsh.  Apparantly McVean scored Liverpool's first ever league goal in 1893. 102 games and 28 goals...not bad at all.

Think I'll be Matt McQueen though as its close to my name and he was both player and manager. ;) Played every position as well from 1 to 11 according to the official site.

220 games, 130 goals - suits me much better than Pennant or Paine tbh :)

Ayrton just had an excellent idea for your thread mate, when you manage to assemble two teams, have a match against each other using stats for appearnces and goals scored the highest scoring wins that game and you can pit all era's against each other, just a thought ....

By the way, you're also John Parkinson, just read his bio, what a tragic way to go. :(

      RIP.

If you have the time to get all those statistics together it'd be a fun idea.

Very time consuming though, which is part of the idea of the thread really, that if anyone's interested they can put some teams together and so on.

Since it died off for a bit I didn't think anyone was fussed, but feel free!

Aye good man, God Rest His Soul.

      Evidently I'm also:
      Jack Parkinson http://www.lfchistory.net/player_profile.asp?player_id=788 - 129 goals in 220 games
Joe Pearson http://www.lfchistory.net/player_profile.asp?player_id=796 - Just one game, must of been one of the first players to wear the Liverpool shirt
James Penman http://www.lfchistory.net/player_profile.asp?player_id=797 - Played his only game on my Dad's birthday, hes the reason i support LFC, God rest his soul. Sadly they lost.
      John Price http://www.lfchistory.net/player_profile.asp?player_id=804 - Another one-game wonder

Have to say, Ayrton, this thread is a great idea, wonderful way to learn about our history.

Yeah, it started off just as a laugh, but in the end we read up on a lot of former players we might never have known about.

      *Wipes sweat off forehead*

First post radically updated, players are now organised into the decades they performed for the club.

Hopefully I haven't missed anyone out, and have included the same players for each decade they played in.

Again, any errors let me know, this should make things easier if anyone wants to create teams.
