I reckon I was good with that turn. JQ suited is a more than suitable calling hand and something you would put me on straight away if I said that after that flop.

The J coming just cemented it.

I always disable the chat when I play - does nothing but distract.

We can do if's and but's, but I'm not quite sure you were fully sealed on the turn.

Anyway you always get a buzz when you do a big bluff, love the feeling when you've placed a large bet as a bluff and your waiting for your opponent to make a decision...nervy stuff

Q 10 would fold pre-flop most probably, AQ isn't a draw, neither is KQ on that board. The only hand, if he took me seriously (and he did) is QJ.

I see what your saying but if he took one second to think, he would put me on Q J and maybe 10 J suited but that's unlikely to be called from a raise under the gun. QJ is just about good enough to call.

Please explain to me how having the 4th nuts is unfoldable? It all depends - like everything in poker. 4th nuts on a 10 9 5 3 J where 4 are the same suit is very weak, especially when the action gets hot.  If you mean on this 1 hand - then I don't see why not. I'd fold it against some opponents and I'd raise against others.

Like he proved in that bluff, the cards are one of the least important aspects of poker - position/aggression and opponent awareness has a far greater importance.

There's many hands where folding the 2 nuts is the right play.

Also we don't know the pot odds here? He hasn't given us any info regarding the pot or the betting so we have no idea what the pot odds were.

But we can safely assume that it was quite a large pot because it got all the way to the river - unless there were some unorthodox moves involved.

      Anyway, congrats Crouch

Perhaps I should have been more clear - I meant this hand.

I wouldn't ever play the fourth nuts in some hands, it's just stupid to do so, especially when you have a read on your opponent.

As for pot odds, judging by the way it was played it seems to me the size of the pot was sufficient enough that he was getting the right price to call. I know we don't know the pot exactly, but we can guess it by the way it was played.

Yes, there are many hands where folding the second nuts is the right play - but that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen, does it? I don't think I've ever witnessed someone fold a full boat - even when there's a set on the board.

The fourth nuts in that hand was good enough. Obviously. I guess some people are just too simple minded to figure out where they are in a hand.

The fourth nuts there is Queens if you take away any second whole card with the Ace, by the way.

      Any Jack > Any Ace/pockets > Kings > Queens.

I hate online cash games. Once you shove all in, the opposition will hit any outer and beat you.

      I have 6s on a board of 6 A Q to hit my set.

He raises and i reraise. He flat calls. Turn card is an A which is the perfect card for me. He checks, i raise, he re-raises and i shove.

He calls and turns over AJ to need any Queen or Jack to win. Of course a Jack hits on the river once i'm all in.

I guarantee, once you have shoved all in then you are not safe unless you hit a royal flush. So sick.

      Karma is a F***ing bi*ch. I love it.

One guy sucked me in by slow playing Kings on the big blind. I had J9 suited in the big blind and checked, hit top pair and he shoved on the turn. I had him covered 2:1 and was priced in with top pair and no flush/straights and he flips over Ks. Sick.

I get Js UTG and just call (6 handed table) in the hope someone raises (especially the guy that sucked me out) but it's called round with blinds at 600/1200 with stacks at roughly 60k.

Flop comes 6 3 3 with no flush draw. I bet 3/4 pot and he calles. Deuce comes on the turn. I bet 3/4 pot and he shoves. I call ;D

He has top pair ace kicker and i flip over Jacks to send him bankrupt. Loved it. Dream hand.

This just happened. Probably the sickest hand imaginable.

I finally get a hand in pocket Kings and raise. Guy reraises, i reraise and he shoves which i call.

He shows Aces of course and the flop comes:

      2 K A

      Sick.

Turn card and the board is 2 K A K

      Woo!

But of course...ACE HITS ON THE F***ing RIVER!

Cost me one pot of $650.

      F***ing had it with donks!!

I raise under the gun, everyone folds and BB calls.

2 2 3 comes and i bet pot. He calls.

10 comes and i bet all in. He calls. Turns over AQ off suit!!!

I have pocket 8's and an A hits on the river. F***ing bullshit.

All sites allow free play that I've been on. Just go on the site that you plan on playing real money on.

But IMO free money stakes don't really "hone" your skills. Most of the time, your just playing against opponents that go all in every hand and it's really not going to improve any of your skill sets.

My advice is play very micro stakes 0.01/0.02 stakes and just play tight.

Read poker books, join poker forum, read poker articles and just feel comfortable playing.

What is your knowledge of poker mate?

Played a far bit during my A level years, but that was half a life-time ago.  It was either poker or Magic: The Gathering and I mostly played Magic, had a killer blue/black deck that kept my win rate high.

What type of poker did you play? Cash games, tournaments, sit n goes, double your money, heads up etc etc etc.

Usually played with our dinner money, not huge stakes, just for fun, and only if it was raining.  I've never been it to it seriously.  No idea what type we played, just know I missed a lot of school lunches.

I'll assume that was cash games. You had cash as your stack and the blinds didn't get raised and if you lose your stack, you can rebuy back in.

I'll advice you to play free money for a short while, get used to way poker is played. Then try real money for a short while and see how it works out.

If you do well, congrats, if not then you can just retry and hopefully pick up a few tips along the way.

I've wrote a few articles for other poker sites about low stakes cash games so I'll hunt them down...

      Good luck

Three hands in a row i hit trips on the board to be outdone by someone hitting a two outer to complete a full book while i had them kicked.

15 people left out of 500 entries.

      UTG +1 raises 3 BBs to 6k (1/2k blinds)

He's been raising light so i repop him 15k with KJ off.

      He calls.

      3 9 K

      Check, check.

      9 on the turn.

He raises, i reraise thinking what 9 would he call pre-flop and not bet to on the flop. He jams and i call.

      A/9.

Like, which F**k head calls 9k more with a 90k stack at that stage of the tournament with A9? I know i should of bet the flop but i checked to keep the pot low.

Made two pretty good lay downs tonight:

Pocket 2's in late position and min raise. One caller from the big blind.

      Ks Qc 2s

      I raise and a call.

      Ks Qc 2s 10c

I raise and he reraises. I reraise and he shoves.

Set over set? Not a chance. Two pair? I doubt he'd shove on two pair on such a wet board. It's conceivable but not even contemplating it. Flush draw and open ended? It's either that or he has made a big hand or already like ace high straight.

I fold and he shows AJ. Delighted.

Later on i'm in the big blind and button raises min to my Qh3h. I call obviously with my big blind already in.

K Q 2 rainbow. He raises. I want to take it down now and reraise. He shoves immediately and i snap fold showing what i had. He turns over KQ.

Went on to cash $500 in 3rd. That'll pay for some of my holiday.

Had a good couple sessions of poker. Up about £30, within a couple hours. Not playing as high stakes as I usually do. Took out most of my bankroll

Had a great hand, I had pocket 4's in middle position, 9 handed table. Got 3 callers from UTG and the next couple of players so I limped in cheaply trying to catch a set in a mulitway, deep stack hand. Both blinds joined in and the flop delivered me a treat, it came 4 A K. Which gave me a set, UTG had TPTK and UTG +1 had top AK which gave him top two pair. Was planning on slow playing it because it was a very dry flop but my opponents just threw their money into the middle on the flop and I called instantly. Can't fold a set here and my hand came out on top...happy days !!!!

EDIT: let me try to get the proper hand history from poker tracker.

They could of easily had a set over set there then.

I've been told Indian casinos in Michigan allow for people that are 19 to go in and play. Hoping somewhere has a poker room to play in.
