Another year gone and still we get silence from those who should be apologising. Anyone who can get to Anfield should go to give the Family's and the supporters who were thier your backing, the more backing the more it will be in the publics eye, if only to say we will never give it up or go away until you admit what was done that day...................96 never to be forgotten............... .....

It is good and confirmed that Liverpool would not play on that day. But just to make sure we will already kick out Chelsea in CL

I'm taking time off work and travelling up from London for the service at Anfield. I'm a RED and feel it's only right to be there to show support for the friends and families of those affected since that dark day in Liverpools' history.

      2009 HILLSBOROUGH MEMORIAL SERVICE DETAILS

Liverpool Football Club 25 March 2009

Wednesday 15th April 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the disaster in Sheffield that cost 96 fellow fans their lives.
As is the custom, the Hillsborough Family Support Group will be organising a memorial service to mark the occasion and to remember those who died.

The service will be inter-denominational and will take place on the Kop at Anfield. It will commence at 2.45pm, include a two minute silence at 3.06pm and conclude at about 3.30pm with the singing of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

Tickets are not required and Liverpool Football Club extends an open invitation to you to join the families, the Directors, officials and players plus thousands of fellow football fans in our annual act of remembrance.

This year is expected to be exceptionally well attended and we would ask that you allow adequate time and plan to be in early. Entrances will be open at 2.00pm, on both sides of the Kop. In the event of the Kop being full for this occasion, extra seating will be provided in the Lower Centenary Stand.

A candle will be lit to remember each individual life that was extinguished prematurely and we rely upon the eternal flame of the Hillsborough Memorial to burn some light into the darkest night.

For many, Wednesday April 15th will be just a normal working day and there will be others who are unable to attend - despite wishing otherwise but everyone is invited to join us in spirit and spare a thought, say a private prayer or even light a candle in their minds.

Will be attending with my brother and mum, just like we did 20 years ago, when we went down on the Tuesday after the disaster to lay flowers and a few other little bits.
Never actually been to the service before, most of the time have been working, or just felt like I was intruding on someone else's grief.

With it being the 20th anniversary, I've decided it's about time I attended.

Good Idea, maybe we could all write posts before in the memory of the 96 that could be shown on the site between 2 and 4pm?

Its a very moving and emotional service HuytonRed, and I imagine this will be even more moving with it being the 20th anniversary.  All the players and staff attend along with all the families, and a candle is lit individually for everyone that perished as their name is read out.  Prayers are given and hymns are sung and it is finished off with YNWA, it had me in tears last year.

The Hillsborough service is a very emotional experience. If it does not get to you, then, you have gone for the wrong reason.

Same here Huyton Red, looking forward to paying my respects, I think I'll have to have plenty of tissues with me by the sound of things though.

This is very sad and upsetting........Mods if you don't feel it appropriate then please delete, the music is very haunting, we mustn't ever forget what happened that day.

Nothing will ever really be appropriate anymore will it MsG. Have to admit though, that was a tough video to watch. Images from that day haunt me. But it's important that we all don't forget what happened that day. No matter how hard it is, the fight for justice goes on.

The fella on his own sitting on the pitch with his head in his hands - he must never walk alone. And that's just one single person.

Our mark of respect on April 15th this year will be a true one.

As Kenny said, it was tough to watch, but we mustn't forget what happened, and the fight must go on.

A lot of the younger members of the forum, and some of our international members, won't have seen the terrible events unfolding, or seen that kind of footage in the media at the time, and it may help them to understand the true scale of the tragedy that happened that day

      RIP 96

i was only twelve when this happened but remember it like it was only a few weeks ago watching that film just brought all the raw emotion back.
I have spoken to my bosses in work and they have allowed me to have a couple of hours off work from 2.30 on the 15th so i can pay my respect

A very touching vid there MsG and it does hit home why the fight for justice must continue. We won't forget those 96 and we all should give a thought for those who also suffered both physically and mentally that day as well.

96 lives lost, too many to count who have had their lives ruined because of the 15/4/89.
