Archived: 20th Hillsborough Memorial Service at Anfield

Still awaiting concrete details from the club, but usually people are expected to be seated at around 2pm.

The HJC shop, just near to the ground, is usually open for you to pass in any donations.

I sincerely hope as many Liverpool fans can make the journey to Anfield and The Kop for the 20th anniversary of the tragedy which cost the lives of 96 fellow Liverpool fans, and destroyed the lives of hundreds more of their family and friends.  To this day nobody has been made culpable for the sheer number of crimes that resulted in massive numbers of deaths that day.  If your son, daughter, brother, sister, mother or father had been killed because of sheer incompetence, then I'm sure you will agree that 20 years without any form of justice for the death of your loved one is a disgrace.

Support the families, let's remember the fallen Liverpool fans, and let's once again prove we are the best supporters in the world - and that we will never forget.

My dads friend Eric Hughes died on that day, he was having a pint with him the night before.

So we'll be there again.

Just reading the Wikipedia page about the disaster and seeing some of the pictures is just awful

Me Uncle was at Hillsborough in 89 and although he was one of the lucky ones (if that's the right phrase) hasn't been to a match since. He can't even bring himself to go to Memorial Service and asks me to go in his place so I will be there again this year.

Will be there to remember the 96.

Is it open to anyone just turn up etc. I would like to go and pay my utmost respect to my fellow fans who needlessly lost their lives and their long suffering families.

I live on the other side of the world ...so I can't be at Anfeild ... but I will give my love and support from India ...and make everyone have a moment of silence and do all that I can to pay my respects !

I was talking to my Mum about it yesterday and she is 86. she said that they will never get justice as the authorities have decided that they cant afford to let the truth be told. They will be hoping that come 30years in 2019 we will have all of given up died or forgotten. The families will never forget and its our responsibility to support them when they need our support. All we can do is support them, in the end the truth as we all know it must come out and until that day comes we cant let the stand alone.

I will definitely be there.

Unfortunately i won't be able to make it but my heart goes out to the famlies who are still sufferring and to those who attended the match. I'am 17 years old and was not alive when the disaster took place but to think that in the 17 years that i have been alive, justice has failed to be served to those who passed away. I'm going. I have to show my support. Whether I'll be able to get the day off or not is another matter. But I'll be there.

On a side note, it would be good if people could change their avatar on the forum this week as a show of solidarity and support to every single person who never came back home that day, their families and friends and also our fellow reds who were there that day and thankfully came home safe. I know for a fact that there's a good few members of this forum who thankfully came home from Hillsborough, but still have open scars. And it's important that we show these members that they'll never walk alone.
