A very nomadic player. Never rated him high. But Kinda liked the way he played at Anfield and OT. The type of striker to come off the bench.

Will prefer him coming to Anfield as a sub striker ahead of Hesky. Anyone?

I love him. He's an excellent striker. Played under Benitez when he was at Valencia too.

In which Rafa loaned him out to Roma the year they won La Liga and UEFA Cup which makes me think he doesn't rate him as highly as many here do.

Crouch opted out. With one year left in his contract, selling him was the best decision. Strictly business baby.

Yeah mate I agree to a point, but was goosed after 50 mins, followed quickly by most of Villa team. But no doubt a threat in the box.

Don't doubt his ability for a second but I don't think he would suit our system. For a start Nando prefers the ball into his feet instead on flick ons from another player and like I have said with all the strikers who have been mentioned with us I dont want them at the club, the Gerrard and Torres pairing is too good to break up, would much rather see the likes of Nemeth given the chance than paying for someone who will spend half the time on the bench.

Also i can't see O'Neill letting both Barry AND Carew come to Anfield, if the rumors about Barry turn out to be true that is ;)

Villa's accountant has gone bonkers until a few slip through using contractual clauses, I think they will value players like Carew at about 15m.  For a couple of million I am game nothing more like 7KK7 has said we have a lethal partnership and some very good youngsters knocking on the door.   We've had a few problems with injuries this season, but I just feel that that was because of Torres's long draining last season.  There isn't any international  competition this summer so he will get a much deserved rest.    Solodee, I like the player but for me maybe 7m would be really pushing it.  Considering we have Babel, Kuyt, Ngog and the eagerly awaited for Nemeth.

I just hope Torres isn't picked for the Spanish team's Confederation Cup's squad.

      Why?

It makes no difference to our season whether he is picked or not seeing as it takes place in the middle of June.

They'll need him against the powerhouse that is New Zealand.

I think what Huyton Red means is that he won't have the rest needed for a new season ahead.
Torres admitted that because he was involved in the Euro's with Spain last season he wasn't fresh and well rested for his long season with Liverpool.

I think he needs a rest as he's had a long year with winning the EUROs it is probably the factor of these niggling injuries.  The body needs a rest and I think that Spain should seriously consider giving him a good rest and it will benefit them for the world cup.

Wouldn't mind having him, a good striker however surely we can't break up the Torres and Gerrard partnership?

See what you mean but the confederations cup only runs for 14 days (14th - 28th) so unlike the Euro's he will get a longer rest. Half of May, some of June and will get more about 2 weeks in July. The team starts pre-season training at the start of July anyway so he will get about the same amount of rest as everyone else.

*EDIT: A week of May ;)*

I dont think anyone will come in to break the Gerrard/Torres partnership. We're on the hunt for a back up. Whether he'll want to be back up is another thing but boy he's good.

We need an older class striker, past his prime, to come off the bench and play when needed.
