Spurs game - Sat. 30th Dec.
      Dec 28, 2006 03:58:56 pm
Anyone got the same empty feeling about this game.
Sure we've been on a good run and picked up points, but let's be honest - we should be picking up points against those teams, and the clean sheets have been a welcome bonus.
The thing is though, we haven't 'battered' any team, I mean won comfortly banging in 4/5/6 goals. We've had the chances, but not taken them.
Confidence would of been sky high if we would of taken our chances, but they seem lack luster whilst playing, and I think a huge chunk of confidence will have gone.
I hope I'm wrong but I see a poor performance from us (please prove me wrong Reds)
      Spurs to win 3 - 1.

You say we haven't battered anyone? We had won 4-0,3-0,4-0 before Watford?

You're right though.  I always had this Spurs one down as our toughest game over Christmas, but now that we lost against Blackburn we need to recapture those 3 points against Spurs.

But they're starting to look like the side that gave us a good chase for the Champions League spot.  Come on Liverpool FFS.  We need all three points in the capital on Saturday.

Is anyone getting da ja vue here. We were discussing the same things last season about not putting away our chances. We have not been the same team since Owen left and we have struggled to find anyone to replace him, that is a fact. We can beat Spurs on Saturday and to be honest with the strength in depth we have we should do them without much problem to be honest. BUT WE MUST TAKE OUR CHANCES tis as simple as that. I have read critsism of Peter Crouch on this board and with regards to him not hitting a barn door, but what about Bellemys sitter which he put wide against Blackburn. What about Kuyts missed chances in the last few games. I really think that Rafa should play Fowler more in fact a lot more because a lot of the missed chances we have had he would have got im sure of it. But Im no pessimist I think we will beat Spurs on Saturday, and I think it will be 2-0 to us.

      2-0 to the Reds.

Kuyt's in line for a recall so expect him to partner Bellers.  Although I still have hopes for God.

Newcastle missed a pen against the sh*te.

How useless are they.  Pity Fat Frank equalised.  Come on the Fulham.

Thought we played well first half.  We had loads of chances (same old story) - strikers just not taking the chances. Fowler not even on the bench (shocker)

No danger.  We tend to stick all the links to the games in The Dug Out section of this board.  There are a few good sites but I don't think any touch http://www.myp2p.eu/ for completeness.

Phil Neville's scored his first Premiership goal for the blue-sh*te.  3-0 up over Newcastle.

How the F**k has Glenn Roeder still got a job?

Spurs are determined to try and get something out this game.    Thought the rain suited our 'slick' passing football.

It's all over at White Hart Lane.  Crazy Horse and KK will be pleased - though probably soaked.

God did we hang on in that second half or what.  Bolton in two days time is just as important now.  Three points from that and our Christmas period will have not been TOO bad.

Good first half from the reds - Garcia looked decent, considering I always say we should never play him in away premiership matches.  The strikers were poor again though. They all look like they are trying though - give them that.  Central midfield was overrun by Spurs tho.

      A good win.  Well in.

      FT Blackburn  2-1 Middlesbrough
      FT Bolton 3-2 Portsmouth
      FT Chelsea 2-2 Fulham
      FT Everton 3-0 Newcastle
      FT Man Utd 3-2 Reading
      FT Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool
FT West Ham 0-1 Man City
      FT Charlton 2-1 Aston Villa

Watford - Wigan was abandoned due to the rain at 1-1.

Top 4 currently looks like this (Arsenal kick off away at Sheff United shortly)

      1. United  P 21 Pts 53
      2. Chelsea P 21 Pts 47
      3. Botlon  P 21  Pts 39
      4. L'pool  P 21 Pts 37

Due to the record of the spurs at home, i say it's a good one..we could have done better in the middlefield area as you mentionned JD, but in all a very good three points. Bolton next, a win necessary...I'm glad, can have a beer now..

Great result. It was another good performance.
Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Sheff Utd thankfully.
But Bolton still stay ahead of us.

Didn't know about the Arsenal.  Good result for us that.

Yep Bolton a biggie now.  If they beat us they will have a 5 point lead on us for third.  Looking like United's title.  Would love us to pull our fingers out and snatch 2nd from Chelsea.

Just watched the match on Football First, how did we hang on to that in the second half ?  I'm still dead nervous with Reina between the sticks    :P  Pennant was running about like a chicken with no head, and Finnan nearly scored an OG.    I've eaten all my nails after watching that !!    Hope we do better on Monday, just glad we hung on  ;)

I think we probably deserved more against Blackburn and got shafted, and Spurs arguably deserved something from today.  Swings and roundabouts.

Let's hope we deserve and get all three Monday.

Squeaky bum time yesterday daan London way.  Glad we got the result, it was cold, wet and miserable - but hey what was I expecting for December 30th!

Quite a number of reds got thrown out for standing at yesterday's ground - picked on randomly by the stewards.  Pretty much all the the reds were standing and from what I saw a hell of a lot of Spurs fans.  Now you would have thought a strategy for these numbskulls who steward at White Hart Lane would be to tell the lads at the front to sit down first.  Not these clueless loons - it could well have been me - it was totally random and quite a few went in the first half before little Luis had cheered us up for half time.

Alas back to the football.  Thought JC was immense yesterday, Gerrard looked up for it but I don't know -I am still convinced he is better on the right for when Momo returns (hopefully soon).  Alonso was quiet, and Spurs in all fairness deserved at least a point out the game.  But we've been shafted ourselves enough times this season, and it was the first time I have seen us win there - well against Spurs anyway (discounting FA Cup Semi's).

Thanks to whoever it was who found my phone after I launched it in the crowd after the goal and handed it in at half time.

Bring on the Bolton.  Gutted I am not going - but enables me to have a few shandies tonight.  Happy New Year all.
