Mirror is quoting 15 million price tag and interest from Chelski

Way too high and out of our price range imo.

I think 15 million is a steal considering  give him 5 years and he could go for Alonso esque profit. :)

Probably in the last group game before the knockouts once they have their qualification guaranteed.

That's if he makes the final squad.

Agree with Redblood £15 millon is a steal for this lad. Maybe we could San Jose in the deal he is having a good season  with Bilbao.

Yeah, Javi Martinez has it all for me. Flare, skill, work ethic, creativeness and passing abilities.

£15 would be a bargain for me.

Manchester City to flex financial muscles by beating Liverpool to Athletic Bilbao's Javi Martinez

Manchester City are weighing up a deal for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez.
The highly-rated 21-year-old has been linked with Liverpool over recent years but City scouts have monitored him closely in recent months and have been putting together an extensive file documenting his background, habits and personality.
They also had scouts in the crowd in Austria on Saturday as he made his full Spain debut coming on as a substitute for Barcelona's Xavi against Saudi Arabia.

Marked man: Javi Martinez (front) trains in Madrid as Spanish counterpart Xabi Alonso looks on
Martinez, who is rated at around £18million, is 6ft 3ins tall and plays in an attacking midfield position.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is a big fan but cannot compete financially with City who are working through a list of targets headed by Valencia's David Silva.

Me too mate, it looks like they are picking Rafa's preferred targets (In an ideal world of course), off one by one the bas**rds.

I get the feeling they just buy the rags everyday with a view to preventing Rafa from improving the squad.

" Who is he looking to sign today?"

" Get me the agent on the phone. Mmuuhahahahahahahah"

I believe if a player really wants to come here, he will arrive regardless of City's interest.Look at Johnson,we managed to compete with Chelsea abd get him here so if Rafa really wants a player he will get it.

I have no doubt about that mate, until of course we look at the F**k all he will be getting to actually buy the players.

Would be a very good signing but sadly due to our american owners he is way out of our price range even if we sell Masch.

But then again we can afford Joe Cole

We're not signing any central midfielders so City can have him.

Why can't we sign Joe Cole, he's a free transfer...just like, we signed Jovanovich on a free transfer... yes theres a signing on fee, yes theres wages, but that very same rule applies with any transfer.
