Jay Spearing defintely deserves a crack at the first team.
What he lacks in physique he makes it up with heart.
The lad's got passion, anyone seen the way he closes down opponents?

And i Agree Spearing not good enough for the first 11 maybe back up but i think Jay would want to start playing first team football and if he cant get it at Anfield he will have to look some where else just like Jack Hobbs, Steven Warnock, Neil Mellor, Danny Guthrie had to do.

Bilbao want San Jose and are prepared to meet his 3.5 mill clause in his contract, not a lot we can do to be honest other than try and get a deal on Martinez if he really is one of Rafa's targets.

I reckon 3.5 million Euros is about right. He's a fixture in their first team now and he showed a lot of promise when he was playing for our ressies.

Athletic Bilbao don't like selling their top players - this kid is being talked about as the best prospect they've had for 30 years, he's their stevie G - plus they can only buy Basque players and won't want to sell him on the cheap. I do believe he'd be too expensive, probably around 20 million.

20 million will not be worth it since we are strapped for cash IMO.

Go for the well knowns instead, like David Silva or David Villa.
