Its a staggering statistic because Gerrard is an attacking midfielder. He still goes back to fulfil his defensive duties but his goal tally got a bit of a boost via the penalties. Hoping for a couple more of them to come this season, would swing the games into our favour I reckon. Anelka has 15 goals and Gerrard's on 13. Considering the fact that Anelka played nearly every chelsea's game. Ahhh well, we've have an inform attacking midfielder reaching the peak of his powers now at 28. Not really, he's a forward these days, pure and simple. Doesn't have to track back unless it's the odd game as a CM.

And he has taken 7 penalties too.

Still, he's been superb and not knocking him in the slightest, it's still a great total on top of all the chances he creates.

Yea I agree with this. Don't really think of him as a midfielder anymore.
Also great to see one of our wingers in double figures in Dirk Kuyt. Amazing really how Rafa has helped change Gerrard into a second striker and Kuyt into a winger.

Although I tend to agree, he's still had to stick the penalties in the net. Which is an art in it's own.
