This story also appears in todays Daily Post, now whilst I would normally dismiss out of hand such speculation Rafa had only days earlier stated he will have to sell players, maybe that doesnt include Alonso but he is supposedly still intrested in Barry so I wonder if Xabi now features in Rafas future plans or will he be cashed in on? I for one hope Xabi stays and we add more quality to the squad.

The same story in the Post

      Daily Post

Same here mate. What gives me hope is that the only thing that's been mentioned from our side of the fence is that we'll probably have to sell to have a chance at landing number one targets this summer. (F***ing c**t owners!) For all we know, that could mean Lucas and Babel being sold and Barry coming in.

But by no means does that indicate Alonso going anywhere.

It's no secret that Juventus still want Alonso so he can pair up with Sissoko. And with the recent links to Barry surfacing again, I'd guess they're just testing the waters.

I really don't want Alonso to leave, he has been our best player of the season IMO. However if a good offer came in for him £18 mill then I would strongly consdier it. No player is irreplacable, so it wouldn't be the end of Liverpool if he went. Though I hope we don't sell him.

Ranieri decided not to buy Alonso last summer.  Saying he was too slow for Serie A.

So why all this bullshit now.

Sorry Juve, the £16 million we quoted last summer doesn't stand anymore.  It's now £160 million.  Thanks.

      Having. A. Laugh.

They slagged him from August to October because they missed out on him. What man with morals would go there after that?

My concern is that he'll move to Spain during the height of his career because he said he'd like to play there a little while ago. He's 27 now? Maybe this is the season but i pray he stays forever.

I think dead wood will go before he does so i'm clinging to that ray of hope. Babel and Degen spring to mind but maybe Lucas too. Don't think Dossena will go.

To let Xabi go would be idiotic, he just can't. I don't expect him to go either.

Wait, did Juve already have Alonso in their disposal? Oh yeah, his jersey when we brushed them aside in CL.

Xabi can't play in Italy. He's too slow for that league.

He needs to stay in Liverpool!

Well pure sh*te and speculation his agent has come out and said no official contact has been made.

He will not be going anywhere he is an intelligent lad and can see that a great club like Liverpool is not far away from dominance domestically and Europe and he knows he is a key ingredient.

to end speculation, rafa needs to give him a new contract.

xabi is very instrumental to this team and we need to keep our best players.

I dont want to believe in all that crap. Xabi was one of our best buys in many many years and we should never let him go after what has been a fantastic season for him.

Also, the way we play right now, we depend on him as much as we do on Gerrard, maybe even more.

Does Xabi want to leave? I don't think so ;).

There are too many players nowadays leaving clubs after a few years of filling their pockets.

After last year's antics of trying to buy Barry - why oh why when we have the likes of Xabi?

According to the article in that link,Rafa,George and Tom set down to discuss about Xabi's price? Sounds a little tall, but I would be terribly disappointed to see Xabi leave. He has been a great player for us ,and I think he is the only decent "creative" player we have ! Please dont sell him...Rafa.
