My vote goes to Dirk Kuyt because he has fitted in so well and so quick that he must be very a determined player unlike some other ones we have had (Diouf, Morientes etc)
He is the hardest worker at Liverpool by a long way.. he never stopped running against Arsenal, scored most of our goals in the Premiership and always closing down defenders & goal keepers. If Sissoko was not injured i think it would be close between the two.

Totally agree with that assumption. Have to disagree though on Gerrard,Alonso and Bellemy. They have not been consistant enough this season, as for Momo well up until the injury he had been very consistant, and so far we have been missing him big time. But if you were to narrow it down to one player, for me it would have to Dirky baby, I know he hasnt scored in every game like some expect(and believe me from some of the posts ive read on this forum some donkeys really do)But for sheer work rate alone he has my vote.

Don't think anybody has particularly covered themselves in glory so far this season - reckon we will need to wait for the season's end.

I think Steve Finnan has been our most consistent reliable player.  For somebody with limited skill, limited pace, limited technical ability this says a lot about our season.

Pennant had a real opportunity to shine, playing in a position that we Liverpool fans had kind of forgotten - the elusive right winger - but he has failed completely to date.

Bellamy - woeful start - only now showing some promise.

Gonzalez - season not begun.  Maybe he will be a second season bloomer.

Alonso and Gerrard - indifferent.

Kuyt - looked lively but looks like the kind of player who feeds on confidence.  A+ for effort.  B- for application.

I have joked on other threads that Scotty Carson has been the best Liverpool player this season and hasn't played for us, but joking a side he's been fantastic, he faces an on slaught every game he plays and has single handedly stopped Charlton from some massive beatings. I hope he's on loan to gain experience and is still in Rafa's plans because he deserves another chance to be the 'Pools no.1.

That interview I read with him before the Arsenal FA Cup game seemed to have the overtones that he 'wasn't' in Liverpool's plans.

Hope it's not true.  I'm not against all the foreigners and all that but I think he is a great English prospect.

Kuyt's work ethic, tireless closing down/tracking back/never giving up on lost causes gets him my vote, he's been a revelation this season. he has a proven track record in Holland & it's only a matter of time before he starts hitting the back of the net more regularly. i'd like to see him in a red shirt for many years to come.

The point about Carson is very valid and he has made some blinding saves playing behind a piss poor defence. He's gotta come back next season and put pressure on Pepe (Dudek bye,bye methinks).

Kuyt, Finnan or Carragher - with Kuyt shading it for sheer effort alone.

The only players who have stood out this season for effort and consistancy are Finnan, Kuyt and Carra. Stevie and Xabi the two most technically gifted players in the team have been too inconsistant and have lacked the inspiration that they have driven through the team in previous seasons. This is also were we have missed momo as he is the ideal player to fill this gap and if he hadn't been injured he would have been in this list!

I also agree on Scott Carson who I feel could be liverpool and england no.1 for many years. His talent is wasted at charlton and to let him go would be foolish.

I think i'd have to say either Finnan or Kuyt. Momo is quality but we havn't really seen enough of him this season due to his injuries

Definitely Steve Finnan, totally indispensible, Mr. Reliable. Last man back when needed, furthestforward on wing crossing in, never misplaces a pass. He is definitely my player of season SO FAR!!! Plenty of time for someone to change that reckoning
