Yeah I know handicapping ( or did ) I was a handicapper at Heaton park golf club many years ago. That’s a serious score on a links course. Isn’t there a par 3 over 200 yards? I’m jealous  :D Best I got to was 8 handicapper but mainly played off 9.

You obviously hit the ball at least 280 yards? I’ve stopped using a driver as I hit my 5 wood just as far  :f_doh: Can only hit it around 180/200 now but was never a big hitter anyway. My two sons can hit it over 300. One of them got hole in 1 on a par 4.  :D

16th is just over 200 off the whites and just under off the yellows

I’m around 260-270 average off the tee - I have a lethal short game

Sounds like lethal all round game to me   ;D Surprised your only 260/270 off the tee though so can see why your short game so good. Can I ask your age? Only asking to do my maths on your driving  ;D

I use to play at least twice a week when I thought I could play but Pj different league to us Ross.  ;D Annoying thing is I’m not to bad with short irons but longer irons terrible. I can hit a 7 iron further than a hybrid 4 wood  :f_wah:

In the old handicapping system we used clause 19 ( you’ll probably remember that ) and I would reduce you accordingly playing me, especially on a links  :lmao:

Play 3 or 4 times a year tops which explains my scores you have no chance if you don't play often and practice . Hope it's something I can get into time depending and work but enjoyed our 3 balls today and a couple of beers after

Yeah your right 3/4 times no where near enough if you want to reach any type of standard. However, doesn’t stop you enjoying the round and the banter that goes with it along with your mates.  ;D

What’s your take on the new handicapping system? I’ve no longer a official handicap dew to long time out of the game. However as you’ll know you can get a online app called VPAR ( no reference to VAR  :lmao: )

My handicap before I played yesterday  was 18. As you know I shot a 95 which is 24 over for the course. There’s no SSS coz was just a friendly game with my son. I put the score in the app ( doubled checked ) and now have a new handicap of 16  :dunceblock: :dunceblock:

What’s your take on this coz I can’t work it out.  :lmao:

It’s took a while to used to but it’s good that it reflects more your current form as opposed to years back - its also good that you can put in every round you play including social rounds and very easy using the EG app.

Agreed about how easy friendly it is but that’s not what I really asked.  :D Not so sure I agree with social rounds going in as you can manipulate your handicap in getting +1 +2  back pending your handicap category.
