We are not going to get him because other clubs want him and its simple we would struggle to compete with a promoted club in the transfer market now never mind a top English or European side.

worth a go, this feller, i would say, we need another good striker.
although if alonso goes to madrid the rumors are that we will get one of their strikers.

Honestly WTF is wrong with some people's transfer policy?

If your good enough, sign them. Stuff their background, religion, race, favoured foot, price, age. If they can do the job, sign them!

This guy looks the dogs bollocks.

20+ goals in the league helping his side to take the title.
Top scorer in World Cup qualification with 8 - not to mention with Bosnia.

      And he's only 23 isn't he?

I reckon this could be a decent purchase... may be some competition for him though.

So if we bought him, he'd be happy sitting on the bench.

      Can't see it somehow!

True. This guy can pass us, we ain't switching our system. Torres is the main stay, we're not looking for a replacement, just someone who can fill in the blanks. In those times of dire straights and player restages

How do we know though that we're going to stick with the same system?

Yes it has worked well for us but if we do see the back of Alonso this summer then we may well see Gerrard going into midfield, allowing a new striker to partner Torres.

Didn't you learn nothing from Degen & Voronin? A player who is outstanding in the BUNDESLIGA is just average in the Premier League.

Just taking that point... When were Voronin and Degen outstanding... the fact we signed them for free says something. Also too early to judge Degen, since he hasn't played a game.

      Exactly.

My personal feelings are, if he can be as prolific in front of goal alongside what may be considered as average professional players, imagine what he could be with the likes of Gerrard, Alonso, Kuyt, Benayoun feeding him chances.

I think he could potentially be a very good signing for Liverpool if Rafa is considering it.

Didn't you learn nothing from Degen & Voronin? A player who is outstanding in the BUNDESLIGA is just average in the Premier League. The quality in Germany's league is just not good enough to produce top level players that can take us to the next level. Out of the Bundesliga only Ribery and Diego would seem good enough to bring us further. Also the language is an issue. We shouldn't take ANY - I repeat: ANY - players who can't speak English or Spanish fluently. Because otherwise these players have difficulties to get used to England, Liverpool FC and end like Voronin....
Degen and Voronin were/are not top players in Bundesliga. Dzeko, Ribery, Diego etc are far better.

Pippen, what makes you so sure that a player who is outstanding in the Bundesliga is just average in the Premier League? I wouldn't consider Degen and Voronin outstanding, but good squad players back then. We have Skrtel, Agger, Aurelio and many others who do come from ourself England, Spain, Italy, and they were class.

I admit that the quality of the Bundesliga is not as high as the Premier League, but the point you are bringing to me there? IF Dzeko comes here and he gets his chance then I don't see how he might not work. Yossi was another case. Outstanding in a side witih average players in Wolfsburg, then what can you expect with players like Gerrard, Alonso feeding balls to you? They are in a different world and it will definitely lift your standards.

This guy is top scorer in the Bundesliga (Voronin nowhere to be seen among the top in the scoring charts), top scorer in World Cup qualifiers, which speaks volumes about the lad's ability.

I don't see how can you link the Bundesliga to crap players in the Premier League because there are also many factors, like ability to adapt in a different country and so on.
