All too easy. Never broke a sweat and i dont recall one clear shot for them.

As good as we were on the ball, Riera showed his consistent inconsistency. Well done boys, fully deserved but how Alonso and Steven didnt score? No idea.

I don't know how they didn't either mate! Just unlucky really.

Still, we won, and that's what was needed. 3-0 was a great result and we are pushing all the way for the title which is just great to see.

Can't believe that Masch and Xabi got knocks at this stage.
      Get well soon guys.

Great win and could have been more but I ain't complaining. I love the movements in the first half.

If Alonso and Mascherano are both out then I would expect it to be Gerrard and Lucas making up the centre midfield.

Good performance and a well deserved win, yet another 3 points. The crossed bar played a blinder and fully deserves nufc MoM.
Hope Xabi is okay and nothing too serious. YNWA! :kop5cf8koxp6:

Hope we get a mini heatwave next weekend. So Robinho (scores when its sunny) can wear his samba shoes and run circles around around the Scum in their very own sty.

Should've been heaps more clearly. Very poor finishing for the amount of chances we had.

How long is torres out for, or was Rafa just resting him?

And hopefully nothing is wrong with Alonso or Masch. Even if it is, I think maybe Lucas can get some confidence and find some form for the last few games, and Benayoun and Gerrard can both play Attacking Mid, in place of CDM Masch. Kuyt slots back RM and Torres ST.

Only a few games to go against West Ham, West Brom and Spurs, i think a line up like that could suffice for 3 wins

He's a good player but at these games are too important to test him out in the league.
Gerrard and Lucas looks like a more likely partnership

Good work like performance made a difficult game look easy 3 more points in the bag good result, and for all the people who were worried about Torres not playing, as I said pre-match we have won games without key players simply because we are playing more as a unit.

With Riera, I feel he started today only because Torres is out. Otherwise, a natural choice for a home game should be Kuyt on right and Benayoun on left.

Frankly, with Riera's late performance (probably last 10 games?!), I'd rather put El Zhar + Benayoun on wings than playing him!!

I loved it how after the game they interviewed Shearer and asked him, "you think Barton deserved to be sent off?" and he said without even hesitating "yes", and then asked "are you disappointed with him?" and again without any second thoughts, "yes".

He's a straight talker and i like that but I'm feeling bad for him...

On the bright side, Benayoun scored so I'm happy :)

Good game, easy win as expected. Newcastle defense is so poor, they couldnt deal with Kuyt and Yossi and not even stop Alonso and Gerrard long shots. It was 3x0 but could of been 8x0 haha

What was people singing that made Shearer laugh? I didnt understand it!

      I can see it!!!
MU will draw with Man City and Hull City, losing to Arsenal! Then we'll win the league by a point provided we win all our games.

The last time a player scored 4 against us in the league, we won the league by a point ahead of MU!!

Shearer is all class. Great player in his time. I think his celebration summed him up. Simple one arm raised. He was great, gave it all for his club, but didn't go over the top like some... disrespectful, arrogant players do.... ie. CRISTIANO RONALDO.

I don't think Shearer should feel bad/disappointed or expect alot from himself. He came in to the job with only a handful of games left and has not much of experience as manager. So, I feel bad for him.

Nevertheless, great player and legend during his time. Always remembered using him when I played Fifa 1998, ;D.

Excellent win, we totally dominated in a match that was made all too easy by Newcastle.

They were shabby as hell, slow in midfield and left massive spaces for our players to exploit. There was only ever going to be one winner.

Still, we had to score the goals, and we finished the match before half-time, which was good for the team, we didn't have to make much effort in the second 45 minutes. I thought most of the players put in good performances, without being particularly outstanding.

Gerrard was very good considering he was returning from injury, and I thought Agger was on form too since he signed his contract! Man of the match for me was clearly Alonso, who dominated midfield and could have had two beautiful goals except for the woodwork.

Job done, what pressure there is has been put on United, can't ask more.

Now Let us do some math.. The max points we can gather when we win the remaining games will take us to 86 points. If manu win the rest of their matches wil  end up with 92 points. So manu has to drop at least 6 points. They should lose twice or draw thrice and win the remaining match. Man city and arsenal can do the damage. Still believe ! !

We dominated from start to finish and I'm a little disappointed with 3-0, to be frank. We could have score a whole lot more, the woodwork saved them thrice.

Glad Barton got his marching orders. The man is scum and what's worse is he sent an irreplaceable player off on a stretcher.
Hope Xabi and Masch are okay. Felt sorry for Shearer. He's a decent, honest bloke and a legend of the game. Newcastle are going down.

And I think the chant about Shearer was something like "should've stayed on the telly".

I've always liked Shearer, as you say, he seems a decent fella.

I have to say though, if my team were trailing 2-0, I'd be a bit gutted as a fan to see him laughing along to the fans on the sidelines instead of trying to find a strategy to save the game.

That being said, he came to Newcastle in an almost impossible position to save them from the drop, it wasn't him who put them in the bottom three to start with.

Anyway, we won, they're fu**ed. Lovely.

Afternoon girls and boys.  Just back from the game.  Slightly inebriated thanks to RedKenny forcing drinks down my neck.

What can I say - I predicted 3-0 and the reds got it.  Thoroughly easy workout - the reds never broke sweat.  As for Joey Barton - everyone knows I hate the little sh*te and to injure our midfield maestro is a disgrace.  Anyway, hopefully it will be the last Premiership football the little c**t will see.

Shocked by the absence of Torres but the reds did the business without him. As we have done without Gerrard recently.  Agger played well also.

So, great win for the reds. Hope the Toon go down.

After the game we made our way to the Cabbage pub. Before the game, Newcastle fans were being bounced out of most of the bars.  One Geordie nearly caused a row when trying to get his drink before mine before the game - the cheeky c**t.

I heard there was a bit of trouble after the game and I think a red got glassed by a gang of 10+ toon fans - not nice to hear.  But back to the game, and we were well worthy of all 3 points.  Although the atmosphere was dire (I've already laid the blame at us not winning the title on the home fans' performance) the last 10 minutes were the best.

      Assorted chanting of:

      'Alan Shearer - Football Genius'

'Shearer!' (said ad infinitum in the Geordie 'messiah' way)

'You should have stayed on the Tele'

and best of all had to be the singing of the Match of The Day theme tune.

I have to say, Alan Shearer would do well to lace up his boots and get on there - because Newcastle not only lack any kind of grit but any kind of ability. Both of which Shearer has by the bucketload. Feel sorry for the guy.

A good win and were still in there. Utd now have City Wigan and Arsenal and then Hull away.If we can only get to the last game of the season. We have certainly blossomed as a team these last few months and are playing the type of football we all crave for. Well done Rafa and well done the lads I had a horrible feeling Owen would come back and haunt us today but thanks to Shearer for leaving him and Nolan out too.

JD is a bad influence. There I was going back to the alehouse for 'just the one'. Four pints later I'm standing at a bus stop eating a 7 inch cheese and tomato pizza (couldn't resist).

Decent sort of game for us though. We pretty much controlled it all the way through, without having to click into a high gear. I was pleased to see us keep a clean sheet - although Newcastle offered the threat of a small kitten in attack.

Thought we could have hit the target a bit more, but when you win a game 3-0 having also hit the woodwork three times, you can't really complain.

There wasn't really a man of the match for me. Nobody really had a bad or an amazing game. Gerrard, Yossi and Kuyt stood out a bit though. And it's great to see our captain back.

Joey Barton is the lowest of the low. And he'll never be remembered as a footballer. He'll be remembered as a scumbag. Not seen any highlights of the game yet but it was only a matter of time before he was gonna see red. He made three bad mistakes and looked like a fool after each one leading up to his attack on Xabi. The odds on him walking off the pitch at the end of the game would have probably been higher than him leaving the pitch through a red card.

It was sad to see the result of some trouble after the game too. Not good that.

But on a lighter note, I'm looking forward to seeing Match Of The Day tonight. If they don't include our Match Of The Day theme tune chant aimed at Shearer in the show tonight, they need their heads testing! That was comedy gold from the red army!!!

Good three points for the reds. And an alarming deflated display from a team in a relegation battle.

^ÃŽ'd put Xabi as our MOTM. He controlled the game, spraying it beautifully about the park. He hit the bar twice as well, was unlucky not to score.

Should've been heaps more clearly. Very poor finishing for the amount of chances we had.

:o  You've gotta be joking !! Yes we should have scored 6 today, but I completely disagree with you that our finishing was poor,  our shots were pretty good today and it was only the crossbar that kept the scoreline down to three.

On another day they may have gone in, after all they were only an inch or two away.

I thought that was a very professional performance without breaking sweat. We done what was needed and could have scored a few more goals, excluding the three efforts that hit the bar. Yossi's goal was said to be off side by the t.v. pundits as his foot and eight inches of his lower leg were ahead of the defensive line. As he gambled and attacked the far post, he connected with the ball with his knee, so in my opinion, the part of his leg that was off side, was not interfearing witrh play. :f_whistle: Stevie G will have a terrible complex about his personal hygene after this one. He will wonder why the Newcastle players didn't want to go near him. ??? He was on his own for most of the game. Couldn't believe the spaces he was afforded by a team desperate for a point. All in all, the bar codes were shocking and even considering thier current position and form, I did expect a bit more fight from them. As for Joey Barton, a flying straight legged lunge, totaly out of control. Deserved his red card and hopefully, that will see the end of his football career. He doesn't deserve any further chances, and if he moves on, any club who buys him will be betraying the good name of football in general. 3 easypoints, hope he injuries are not too bad, Lets move on and keep the pressure on the Scum.   :aaliverpool2xt1:

Got back from the match about an hour ago, seemed really strange coming back from the  match in daylight   ;D

Liverpool were all over Newcastle today like a rash, there was only ever going to be one winner of this game as soon as we'd won the toss.

Had a great spec in the Upper Anny Road end, and the atmosphere wasn't too bad, there was a bit of singing, could have been a lot more though.

A lot of players played very well today, namely Benayoun, Aurelio, Alonso, Mascherano, Kuyt and Gerrard...........nobody was brilliant but these players for me stood out.

Again I'm afraid I was disappointed with Babel, I just don't know what it is with him but for me he doesn't set the game alight, and I won't be that sorry to see him go come the end of the season  ::)

The humour was there for all to see today, the banter with Shearer from the Kop was brilliant, I bet he wonders what the hell he's let himself in for, as Newcaste offered absolutely nothing, and Joey Barton should be ashamed of himself, professional footballer acting like a spoilt little brat, he doesn't deserve to ever kick a football again.

I just hope Xabi's injury isn't to serious, and how many times this season have players been sent off tackling Alsono? at least 4 or may even be 5, Is that the only way they can stop him?

Well we got the three points and a plus 3 better goal difference than the mancs, we just have to hope that somewhere along the line they slip up..........anyone got a few banana skins

Anyway all in all a good day, had a good journey there and back and I went to the match with Paul Tomkins, who is a top top bloke, nice one Paul, hope you enjoyed your first match this season.

By the way, I forgot to mention how pleased I was to see Lucas bang a goal in today. The second half was getting a bit stale and he popped up with that header really well. To finish the game 2-0 would have been slightly criminal.

It was good to see Lucas scoring tbh. Good performance, very rountine stuff. Dissapointed that we should have buried few more, but good keeping by Harper. Riera was poor today again... but it was the right choice to play him, he needs a goal to get him playing again. Hopefully Lucas can take confidence to the next games for us.
Masch, Alonso and Torres should be back for West Ham game which is a tough one but we need a strong performance. I will take a 0-1 now.

Some people on here were giving Shearer stick but he has always been a great profressional during his playing days and on the media. With him to come out and fully admit Barton deserved it, is full marks to him. Not many managers would admit they team play awful.... cough cough Fergie.

Plenty of positives to take further.... But I was disgusted to see an Newcastle supporting flashing Barton's shirt. It should be a rule to kick out convicted criminals out of football. That Newcastle fan looked in his teens, if that boy looks up to Barton then its disgusting.

A few inches from being 6-0 but I'm pleased to have won the game without breaking sweat.

Hopefully Xabi and Masch are fine. I have to say Xabi was awesome. His range of passing was superb and he was so unlucky not to have scored twice.

Stevie had a good game taking into account he just got back from injury, but I;m sure if you ask him he'll be disappointed he didn't get on the scoresheet with the space Newcastle gave him.

Kuyt played well as did Benayoun but Riera and Babel were very disappointing on an otherwise good afternoon.

I do have to admit though that I was left very frustrated with our shooting, when you have all the time in the world and line up a shot you MUST hit the target at least.

Disgrace to Huyton, that's what that c**t is!

Nice easy stroll for the reds. Newcastle are probably the worst team to visit Anfield this season, even worse than Blackburn. If they manage to stay up they're a lucky bunch of bas**rds, because there is absolutely nothing there.

Fantastic header by Kuyt and good to see Yossi on the scoresheet again. After our second we'd already started taking the piss out of the geordies with our passing, at times today some of the inter-change play was briliant.

I'm sure our mate Lucas will of grown a little bit more today in confidence after his goal, and one thing I will add is Lucas does seem to do well winning headers in the opposition box.

Loved the piss-taking out of Shearer, that must of been when me and the majority of the kop finally woke up, I'd say 50% of the kop today must of stayed up to see Hatton get filled in.

And there was some naughties after the game outside the Flattie, strangely enough there was a massive police presence outside the Flat Iron when I was walking up to the game, yet none after. After seeing some of the behaviour out of some of them dickhead geordies around Anfield over the last two seasons i'm not surprised there was a kick-off today.

The Barcodes gave us a good practice match. We played well but should have scored a lot more goals but I'll take the 3 we got. Hope the injuries are not too serious. Was surprised to see Torres in the stands though but still thought we'd have too much for the Doomed Army. A good 3 points.

We got the 3 points and we thoroughly deserved them,as most posters have commented it could of been 8  goals instead of 3.Those efforts of Alonso,Stevie and Agger were worthy of goals and the fact that they were not can be put down to bad luck and not bad finishing.I must give credit to Shearer for admitting that we deserved to win and Barton deserved to be sent off.Ferguson and Fat Sam could do with taking lessons in management from Shearer, after all he cannot be blamed for the rubbish of a so called football team he has inherited.

Solid game by everyone, except maybe Riera who didn't look his best. Fantastic header by Lucas; hopefully he will get lesser of the mud-slinging now. Surprised Xabi and Stevie didn't get on the scoresheet, but, well, not complaining.

As for Joey Barton...he's a c**t. However, Rafa thinks Xabi, and even Masch and Nando, could be back against West Ham, so I'm made up.   :)

And it was great attacking football ...this game was such a joy to watch ! Riera was poor today and kept on giving the ball away and was selfish around the box otherwise everyone else was great ... unfortunate by the for the shots of stevie , xabi and agger .... AN dI hope that Xabi and masch will be fully fit for the west ham game !

Shearer's just offered the post a million to keep them up.

Too easy that was, we didnt really work up much of a sweat over Newcastle.

I think they played rubbish but a lot of that is also down to how good we are, we were at best performing at half pace but in total control the whole game the score flatters Newcastle they could have had another 5 or more.

Did anyone see Motd and how Dixon pointed out what we did on Kuyt's goal?

Agger pushed the defenders where knowone would notice and Kuyt ran near the back to get unmarked. Then we switched - Kuyt the pushing, Agger the running.

      Good thinking.

Him and his clan got well fu**ed off from huyton mate as you know, they wander the face of the earth unwanted and hated,as for the pr**k himself he can't set foot in his home town.

Wish we had.  Reckon they may stay up on goal difference now.

That's the scoreline I predicted for this match. Was well and truly gutted...still angry at that f**king crossbar.

Can't believe this is only the 81st post in this thread. Never seen such low post numbers in an after match thread  ???

Anyway well done to the lads, another 3 points and opened up the GD to plus 3 (still think it should read + 10).

Looking forward to Stevie putting on his goal scoring boots for the game against West Ham next,....we all know how much he loves playing against them.

Fantastic performance by the lads and again we've cruised through without our best XI on the pitch. I can't remember the last time we had a full squad to pick from. But anyway, it was a great performance.

I'm not sure which team has been worse at Anfield, Newcastle or Blackburn? But that game on Sunday was a walk in the park, we didn't even need to break sweat. 3-0 doesn't do our dominance justice. 10-0 wouldn't of flattered us, we were that good.

One of the best things were the goalscorers. All three have come in for a lot of stick from Liverpool fans over the years and all three have been pretty impressive during the year of 2009 so it was good to see those three on the scoresheet. Yossi's goal has finally given us another player who has scored more than Robbie Keane, about time an all I reckon.

I thought the song played at the end of the match as the players were leaving the gound was very appropriate.

It was that Lily Allen tune something along the lines of "Its not fair I think youre really mean, I think you are really mean"

Probably what the Geordies were thinking watching that match.

So he went and got my son and escorted us out.Son goes dad but your not bladdered .i said i know but this steward has taken a dislike to me(maybe he does'nt like the irish). Not the football clubs fault, you always get one. Maybe it was time of the month or something.
