Keane was a coward -what he did to Haaland was unforgiveable- slightest bit of bother and he walks away in man
Keane was a coward as a player - What he did to Haaland was unforgiveable- Bottle's it as a manager as well. The s**te that Sunderland are in is mostly down to him

What a laugh to read the hardest man list !! Where are the likes of Norman Hunter, Nobby Stiles and Chopper Harris?
Tommy Smith without a doubt was the hardest man I ever saw as a player... I remember when he played with a dislocated knee for 70 minutes thinking it was a niggling injury he could run off !!
Roy Keane (who is he?) he wouldnt have lasted 10 minutes on the park in the 70s with his so called hard man attitude, Tommy Smith would have just steam rollered him !!and  never given it a second thought !!

If you dropped Roy Keane into the heyday of Souness, Smith, Harris, Hunter et al he wouldn't last 5 f**king minutes.

      Those were REAL hard men.

And as for John Terry? I laughed so hard a bit of wee came out.

I think the majority of players from back in the day would over shadow all the numpties they've thrown in that list.

Load of me arse that. Tommy Smith, no. 18 and John Terry no. 8? ::) He got booted in the face once, don't mess with him. ;)

Plus, Skrtel would kill the lot.

He's a snide Roy Keane never had the balls to stand and face anyone who looked remotely threatening, that does qualify a bully but if the cap fits an all that sh*te.Tommy Smith would have had him for breakfast .

I think there's a place for all, but they got the hardest guy I ever seen at 18 and that can't be right. Bremner was as tough as old boots, so was Harris, Souness and Batty, but Vinnie Jones please, who does this stuff. More who should not be there are Bowyer, Shearer who was tough and fair, but hard, not his style.

Keane at one, another strange one, Cantona, when was he ever hard, dirty sometimes but hard, no-way. The day of the hitman has well gone and today it's looked at with a moan and groan and 40,000 baying for blood and the red card.

I for one prefer the way football is played today, and I believe there is still room for the tough guy, but today the nearest we come is players like Mascha & Carra, who I'm sure loves the rough and tumble of the EPL, one or two of our games this year have had an edge, so maybe it's still there, waiting........

I think a few Hammers fans would make a good arguement for Billy Bonds as well.

From the few clips I've seen of him in his day, not many messed with Frank McKlintock either.

Gerry Byrne should be in there for playing practically a full game plus all of extra time with a broken collarbone!! How much F***ing harder can you get than that?!

Think there's a difference with some of those players in that list. There's a few select proper hard men and then there's a few dirty players. Being dirty doesn't make you hard. It makes you a coward.

THE HARDEST EVER RED: VOTE NOW

      Jimmy Rice 07 May 2009

Former Reds Julian Dicks, Neil Ruddock, Tommy Smith and Graeme Souness were all named on a list of the hardest ever footballers this week - but who is the ultimate Anfield hard man?
The www.sportingfix.com top 20 caused quite a stir among fans, with Dennis Wise finishing 13 places above Kop icon Smith.

So, we've come up with 18 contenders among the ranks of our former players and want you to vote for the most fearsome.

As well as the aforementioned bruisers, there's one-time soldier Bruce Grobbelaar, midfield general Steve McMahon and Gerry Byrne, who contested the 1965 Cup final with a broken collarbone.

Gerry Byrne is indeed at the top of that list and quite rightly so as well, some of today's players like dogbreath and nancy pancy ronaldo can't hold a torch to some of these players, they wouldn't last 5 minutes with Tommy Smith :lmao:
