Why, Oh , Why does anybody ever watch soap opera's

To me these things are for people who havent got a life.

Does anybody know why people watch them
or does anybody watch them, please tell me the reason, as i really cant understand it
The only soap i ever watched was neighbours and Brookside a few times, because one was a nice sunny place and the other one was home.

I don't understand it myself.

If ever I've had to endure an episode of Eastenders, I can feel my brain slowly going numb - like that feeling you get when you go the dentists and he injects the needle into your gum.

Only a thousand times worse.

I sometimes watch Neighbours because Libby Kennedy is top totty.

Apart from that I don't watch any others.  Saying that, aren't most things technically soap-operas anyway? The Apprentice isn't really a game show for instance, and even the news - most of the goings on at Westminister could be classed as soap-operas.  Everything, even footie on Sky, is show-biz these days.

I used to watch Corrie religiously, wouldn't miss an episode, would tape it if I was going out or watch the omnibus at the weekend, but it's pretty rubbish these days, although out of all of them it is still by far the best, which isn't saying much for the rest.......is it 

Bet JD wouldn't miss an episode of Dr Who !!!

Oh i have to hold my hands up to this one, i LOVE soaps. Emmerdale, Home And Away, Neighbours, Corrie, Eastenders the LOT! LOVE'em! I don't know why, i usually watch them 'on demand' as I'm not usually in to watch them all. But yeah, i love them, can't get enough. Suppose it's just interesting, dramatic and sometimes relatable.

I don't bother with soapies there too predictable not to mention I think neighbours is aimed at 10-15 year olds.

Can't stand soaps at all.

The problem though is that the programmes that I do enjoy watching regularly (Inbetweeners, The Shield, Scrubs, etc) all finish and have big gaps in between seasons.

Do you think the breaks inbetween seasons/series' are what makes them so good or is it just that soaps are, on the whole, quite sh*t?

Used to watch a few, Corrie and Eastenders, mainly 'cos the wife used to love them...even used to tape them when we were on holiday. But we have not watched any of them for ... must be about 2 years now.

Have not got a clue what is going on now. and I do not miss them at all.

I don't watch soaps. like at all.

But a little tip for anyone who doesn't like them as much as me, if someone's waching a soap just keep telling them that their only messing and it's not real. I found that it really pisses people off

Before i get slagged and have people question my sexuality, its the only thing on at the time (current affairs shows are on too but the ones here are dribble) but i watch Neighbours. Wont cry if i miss it, just watch it.
