A band who probably came up with some of the funniest song titles ever thanks to Nigel Blackwell
      Like this classic gem.

      Another fantastic Wirral band
Who I first heard  on battle of the bands  ( part of the great Easton express show  on radio city )hosted by the legendary DJ & anfield match day announcer and greatly missed Phil Easton.

90s U2 - perfection. Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Passengers and Pop - all essentials and much listened to records. Bits of Industrial rock, euro beats, disco, sampling, krautrock and given extra treatment by some of the best remixers of the decade. By some margin my favourite era of the band. Kind of sad that they turned their back on such European influences to pander to beige middle American tastes for most of the 21st century in an attempt to reclaim their Joshua Tree faithful. Heard Lemon on 6 Music the other day reminding me of it's brilliance. Odd, beautiful and entrancing. Inspired me to pull out the full album version and the sensational Paul Oakenfold mix.

Excellent; a fellow devotee of the excellent Paul Oakenfold remix of Lemon. I first heard it when it was only available on vinyl import and in very limited numbers. I was blown away by its magnificence. Back then, I went clubbing frequently, took lots of recreational drugs and was building quite a record collection of house and balearic music. Lemon was a big post clubbing favourite when my girlfriend at the time and I hosted post clubbing get togethers. Happy days!

Regrettably far too young to have experienced the 90s club culture! Would have loved to have done Sub Club in Glasgow back then as opposed to more recent times! A few years ago I got given the Achtung Baby 20th Anniversary boxset which contained an extra cd with all these remixes and so much more from that era including the Oakenfold's mix of Lemon and Even Better Than The Real Thing. Little did I know that his remix of Even Better Than The Real Thing charted higher than the original!

Btw - you don't know the female vocalist on the Lemon remix? Never been able to find out who it is. Love how it blends with Bono's falsetto and contrasts with Brian Eno and The Edge's restrained backing vocals.

I used to hear good things about The Sub Club in Glasgow and also The Tunnel. Paul Oakenfold was already a star before his work with U2 but that elevated him to superstar dj/producer.

Sorry, I have no idea who the female vocalist is. You're right, it's a wonderful blend mixed together and the track still sounds fresh and alive today.

Love Mike and The Mechanics with Andy Roachford .

"Dont Know What Came Over Me"   That is a song and a half . A real song

      -------------------------------------------------------

      This is something else .

Video shot in MacArthur Park downtown LA  with Lordes .

All shot in 16 mm format and not normal Red Light or 35 mm.

Song is composing genius with double choruses ... work of art.

Leaving the phone of the hook ............. ?
