I'd bite their hands off for £30m + Bojan and Yaya Toure.

I didn't read it the same way TBH.

      The quote was:

      Quote
Liverpool will resist any attempt by Barcelona to prise midfielder Javier Mascherano away during the January transfer window but may accept a £30m package in the summer. Barca may offer midfielder Yaya Toure and striker Bojan Krkic in part exchange. (Daily Express)

What I understood was the fee is rumoured to be around £30 million, but the highlighted bit suggests the players would be a part exchange deal, as in they'd pay us less but chuck in a player or two. I don't think for a second they'd pay us the full £30 million and give us two players.

I read it the same way Ayrton. To be honest though some cash + Toure and Bojan would be a top deal for us i think, otherwise we would struggle to find quality replacements quickly i feel. Two for one plus some extra cash to the kitty? Decent i think.

In my mind, Toure could well turn out like Viera in the EPL, I genuinely think he'd do well.

Same. That deal would kill 2 birds with one stone, backup striker and a replacement for Masch let alone enough money to buy a winger. Toure would also add some height and aerial ability.

Barca love to pay over the odds for players, as we've seen with Ibrahomovic.

Don't want to sell him why are we considering selling our best players who next Gerrard, Torres. Bojan has being poor the last couple of seasons, don't think he would be a success in England. Toure is a poor mans Masch. That £30 million would disappear into bank repayments.

Saying that, they paid about £40mill + Eto'o for Ibra.

Well spotted!!! given the situation where the predating owners are swooping on anything that smells like money, to take payment in kind would take the fuckers out of the equation. Even H$G would acknowledge that the fact that a player is being shipped out for a money + player deal is a benefit to the club but more importantly new blood would be introduced without them getting their hands in their pockets.

      £100 million - really?

We could buy at least 4 quality players with that.

Indeed. A replacement for Masch, World Class winger and another striker.

Keep dreaming guys. 100m? Haha. Dont make me eat my own dick. Few weeks ago. I still think that we should sell him. But now, after I see how weak our Midfield is. I feel we should keep him at all cost.

If I was offered £100M for him, i'd bite their whole body off.

With that we could buy an able replacement, a quality winger and a proven striker and even leave some for the owners to pay off from their debts (which it shouldn't, but realistically would).

Masch is a quality player and that is something we don't can afford to loose, and if he was sold you can only guess where the money would have gone...

Liverpool FC must move on from Champions League exit, says Javier Mascherano

JAVIER MASCHERANO today insisted Liverpool will not let the crushing disappointment of an early Champions League exit wreck the remainder of their season.

Despite easing past Debreceni 1-0 in Budapest last night, the Reds were eliminated from the competition after Fiorentina beat Lyon by the same score in Florence.

It means Liverpool will now play Europa League football for the first time since 2004 in the New Year and has given the club’s critics even more ammunition.

Mascherano, though, believes Rafa Benitez’s squad have a duty to the club’s supporters to put the setback behind them as quickly as possible and treat the Europa League in the same way they would the Champions League.

The Argentine midfielder has even set his sights on go all the way to the final, which will be held in Hamburg next May, to make up for missing out on a trip to Madrid.

“It’s a strange feeling for everyone at the club,” said the Argentine midfielder. “The Champions League is a special competition for us but it’s gone and we must keep going.

“Now we are in another competition and we will do all we can to win that. There will be no problem with motivation. The motivation is simply to play for Liverpool.

I hope that last line will quash any doubts and rumours where Javier wants to be and who he wants to play for.

Masch is quality BUT if a player, any player isn't committed to our club then sell and sell for a huge price. We need players right now who are as much in love with the shirt as we are. Even my hero ian rush was allowed to leave though he is obviously in a different class bracket to mascherano.

Like it or not we need Mascherano.  He is a tremendous help on defence.  I really hope he isn't going anywhere.
